Meet Fiona 👋
Fiona is one of our much-loved Palliative Support Workers, working within our Hospice at Home team to provide care and support for patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes. Fiona has been part of Rossendale Hospice for around 7 months.
Fiona stated, “It is a privilege to care for people during such a vulnerable time in their lives. I feel grateful to be welcomed into families’ homes and always try to meet each family’s individual needs, helping them feel as comfortable, safe and cared for as possible.
Before joining the Hospice, I worked in a variety of roles, including district nursing, a pastoral lead in a school, a wellbeing practitioner, yoga and meditation teacher, massage therapist, and even a swimming and scuba diving instructor! These roles have helped me understand people and the community, which is something I bring into my work every day.
What I love most about my job is making people feel better and also supporting the colleagues I work with, helping them feel at ease where I can. I’m incredibly proud to represent Rossendale Hospice.
If I could share one message with the Rossendale community, it would be to take a look at the services the Hospice offers- many people don’t realise the wide range of support available. Even I didn’t fully appreciate the breadth of services before I started working here.”
