Sorry I’ve been MIA, I do struggle to post when I get super busy working- just looking back on some recent work….Nina has been coming to me for over 3 years. She has always done a home colour kit using base 2/3. She is very particular and only applied to the regrowth each time, however she had a huge build up of a “matte darkest brown”, almost looking black to the human eye. We cleansed out the inky build up, bal ced out the banding and finished with her target shade for this gorgeous copper, in one sitting. 🧡

My long standing client came to see me after trying out a copper look for a few months. She wanted a darker base with lots of gold & a strong warm face frame. We tried a few attempts to get the desired toffee gold, which annoyingly I have NOT been able to achieve……(yet!!!!)
She is coming back in this week as I found a formula on the O&M forum community I’m part of which will enable me to achieve the target shade. As I’ve only been with O&M less than a year, it takes time to know a brand inside out. They offer an amazing range of colours- which as a colourist we need to convert over from a previous brand sometimes mixing 3-4 shades to obtain results.
I will keep you updated on the final outcome …💛
but I wanted to highlight to other professionals that this does happen from time to time. In particular the hair and beauty industry, clients come in with photos and we are doing guess work to try and match our formulas to the photos. Sometimes photos are A.I and computer generated colours are totally unrealistic.
I always try to maintain good communication throughout the occasional disappointment so clients can understand the process and we can find solutions together , whilst keeping the integrity of the hair.
No one wants to visit their hair/nails/skincare specialist and feel disappointment. It’s a costly service and we need to feel happy with the results- so I recommend open communication with your client and please don’t feel deflated if they are unhappy- always look for a solution and drive for 100% results. Not everyone scores first time but with some education and persistence we we learn from these occasions which help us grow within our professions. Even if you have been doing your job over 25 years !!!

Let’s talk colour refresh. My beautiful client has a twice year balayage. She was enjoying her colour still however during her cut appointment I suggested the O&M clean and tone colour conditioners. We used copper and caramel over her balayage to revive her colour gently.
