End of an era....

Yesterday was very emotional after so many years of hairdressing, actually retiring seems surreal. I can't tell you how much I love all my clients who are truly now friends, i was choked up saying goodbye. I actually really enjoy doing hair, but it's time for change. I have so many big plans and dreams, space needs to be made, my routine adjusted as life evolves.

Firstly though I'm going to take a little break, I never took maternity leave, goodness me I had Hvar on a Friday and was paying wages Sunday morning ! I need to not rush, get out of fight or flight and sloooowwww down a little. My mum always said "Jo Rome wasn't built in a day".

I can tell you for a fact I will be seeing you all soon and please feel free to ask me any questions regarding hair advice. For now I'm handing the scissors over to based in Leigh on sea for those this way- we used to work in Toni and guy together and she offers O&M and equivalent free from products, she offers a beautiful space in her home salon. For my London clients I'm handing you over to based in Bethnal Green, we used to work in Cobella Selfridges together. Kelly offers free lance appointments in your own home and both of these ladies are my friends so I can transfer colour details and techniques, so please don't panic you are in safe hands.

All that's left for me to say is thank you for trusting me with your hair for so many years, I'm wishing you a very Merry Christmas 2025, and I hope all your dreams come true in 2026 ✨✨✨

Today we officially adopted our baby girl Chilli-Cola (Named by the kids )

I've just came back from an incredible yoga retreat on a little Greek Island Amorgos. It's given me the insight into the moves in need to make as our life is evolving. I have worked so hard since age 13, learning my craft as a hairdresser at my first ever salon as a Saturday assistant. thank you for believing in me all those years ago...I then left school at 15 with all my GCSES (mixture of A's B's C's & a A* if you don't mind!) I then flew the nest to work at Toni & Guy which was such a fun time for me and then I found my way to Beverly Cobella in Kensington age 19. This was a massive part of my career as I worked with a multi national collective of some of the best in the business , the artistic talent just oozed from our team. I trained under some incredible stylists and technicians who never clipped my wings. I was working alongside those who create what you see in mainstream fashion for hair, doing hair shows and congresses at the royal Albert hall and all the celebs jetting into town.

Once I was fully qualified working on the floor the flagship Cobella store opened in Selfridges and I worked with an awesome team, many of who are still some of my good friends today.

After a little bit of travelling I moved from west end to the city and worked at Toni and guy Essentuals, where I built up a solid client base with a view to work in TV & film. I was doing fashion shows, commercials and loving life with my best friends but I was working so much on the side at home, so eventually I went part time and then eventually fully freelance. Here I really came into my own with building the foundations which led me to owning a mustard, the salon I never even wanted! I

In 2011 mustard opened its doors and in 2013 after pouring my heart and soul into it , I moved it to bigger premises with more staff, as it was a huge success. After having Hvar in 2016, it begun to get harder and harder as we moved away from Chingford and I wanted to sell. Whilst I was really successful I honestly never really wanted a salon, I loved working in TV and film, and it's always been about my clients. My clients and what I love most....

Oh hello sunny hazy September, no more hiding please till late October at least! This time of year a quick, relatively cost effective way to refresh your summer colour is to apply a gloss over existing highlights. You can customise the tone so we decided on a rich deep pigmented combo of a golden brunette tone for ! This will see her through autumn, adding shine and depth. She could then go with a chocolate gloss at Christmas....then stretch that out to early spring. Once the colour fades, team a set of fresh highlights, with a lighter toner and bosh -back into blonde mode ready for next summer. Using semi permanent gloss is a flexible way to colour, minimal damage as the molecules are bigger, so they don't stick to to hair, they are easier to work with removing tone rather then a permanent product. You can neutralise unwanted tones or simply refresh stale colour. I use a clean brand which offer a huge variety of colours which are intermixable 🎨🖌️
