"I have had a recurring back injury for the last 18 months which left me with a back ache and numbness in my thigh. I had one session with Joanne which released the pain and, although sore the next day, I have had no pain or numbness whatsoever since. Great service, thank you Joanne"

Deborah, Five Oaks Consulting, Essex

"I had been experiencing pins and needles in my fingers for a number of weeks and after meeting Joanne Larner at a Business Meeting decided to attend for a consultation with her. After a thorough consultation and initial assessment she started massage and manipulation treatment. After the first session I felt considerably better and incredibly after three sessions the sensation in my fingers had completely returned to normal. I am so impressed with the results and was so impressed with the professional service provided by Joanne. Thank you Joanne"

Amanda Phipps, Eastwood, Essex

"Joanne fixed my frozen shoulder. From not being able to raise my hand above my shoulder (and it being very painful) to wallpapering a bathroom 3 days after seeing her. Thank you Joanne"

V.T, Daisy Decorating, Rayleigh, Essex

“I came to Joanne hoping she would help me with back pain and stiffness. Not only am I now pain free but I feel ten years younger and am able to bend down the way I used to do! I now attend for maintenance treatment every few months”

Mrs Loveridge, Rayleigh, Essex

It's National Schizophrenia Awareness Day

National Schizophrenia Awareness Day, marked on 25 July every year by the charity Rethink Mental Illness, explores what it means to live with this much misunderstood and often stigmatised mental health condition.

In England, approximately one adult in every 100 will live with a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

By shattering some of the myths and breaking the stigma and prejudice which surrounds this diagnosis, Rethink Mental Illness continues to provide support and community for people living with schizophrenia and their loved ones.

On National Schizophrenia Awareness Day, which coincides with the founding of the charity nearly 50 years ago, Rethink Mental Illness shines a spotlight on the condition and the dedicated work to improve the quality of life for people living with schizophrenia and their carers.

The prognosis for the UK’s sarcoma patients has changed little over the past 40 years.
Late diagnosis is a key factor.

Enough is enough; it’s time for action, and this Sarcoma Awareness Month, we’re setting out what we intend to do to get people diagnosed earlier and have better treatment options for life with and beyond bone and soft tissue cancers.

It is an opportunity to raise awareness of Sarcoma and the work that the charity does in highlighting the signs and symptoms of this disease and to support those suffering from this type of uncommon cancer.

Although Sarcomas are relatively uncommon there are 15 people diagnosed each day in the UK with Sarcoma. It takes many forms and can be bone, cell or tissue related. Sarcomas can affect any part of the body either internally or externally.

Signs and symptoms to look out for are:

🔵 a lump or swelling which grows and changes, or is bigger than a golf ball
swelling, tenderness or pain in or around the bone which may come and go or become worse at night
🔵 stomach pain, nausea, loss of appetite, feeling full after eating only a small amount of food
🔵 blood in your stools or in your vomit.
🔵 Sarcomas are usually found when a patient identifies a lump which has appeared on their body but can also be detected through investigations for other symptoms.

As with all cancers the earlier the diagnosis and treatment the better the outcome.

It is important that if you are concerned and have any of the symptoms or signs noted above that you seek urgent medical advice from your GP in the first instance.

21/06/2023

Skin hyperextensibility means that the skin can be stretched beyond the normal range. Skin extensibility, or skin stretchiness, is measured by pinching and lifting the skin on the volar surface (same side as the palm of the hand) at the middle of the non-dominant forearm. Skin is hyperextensible if it stretches greater than 1.5 cm. Mild skin hyperextensibility may be observed in people with any type of EDS. More severe skin hyperextensibility, greater than 2 cm, is observed in certain types of EDS.

People with a type of EDS may also have other skin characteristics and symptoms, such as unusual skin texture, skin fragility, very thin skin, delayed wound healing, and abnormal scarring. Not everyone with a type of EDS has skin hyperextensibility or unusual skin characteristics.
