Following on from my post about stress and hormones, I thought I’d share this little gem, a guide on how nature can help our mental health with seasonal activity ideas towards the end. 🍃🍁💚
Let’s talk hormones — because it all begins with the brain 🧠
Inside your body is something called the HPA axis
(Hypothalamus, Pituitary & Adrenal glands)
This system is your stress resilience control centre.
When your brain senses stress, it sends a message down the chain telling the adrenal glands to release cortisol — your stress hormone.
In short:
🧠 Brain senses stress
📣 Brain sends the signal
⚡ Adrenals release cortisol
Cortisol isn’t the enemy.
It’s there to help you cope.
But here’s the problem…
When life is constantly stressful — rushing, worrying, poor sleep and emotional overload — the brain stays on high alert.
It keeps shouting “WE’RE NOT SAFE!”
That means cortisol stays high for too long.
From there, hormones begin to shift and wobble as a response to stress — they’re reacting, not misbehaving.
Over time this can lead to:
• Inflammation
• Exhaustion
• Poor sleep
• Mood changes
• Weight changes
• Pain, stiffness & low energy
The adrenals aren’t broken — they’re responding to a nervous system that never gets to switch off.
This is where real change begins.
Understanding why your body responds the way it does opens the door to feeling better — naturally.
Because when the brain feels safe…
everything else works better.
I keep things simple and relatable, because when you understand your body, you’re far better equipped to take care of it.

So here it is… Part One complete 🎓
I’ve officially completed Pelvic Floor CPD – Part One and honestly, I’ve loved every minute.
So much information, taught in such a visual, practical way — and what I love most is how beautifully it aligns with what I already do with my clients. Movement, connection, awareness… not just “do your pelvic floor exercises and hope for the best.”
Im excited for next week …. Part Two begins!
Plus I’m looking forward to joining the team at — sharing knowledge and helping others with their pelvic floor issues in such a welcoming and inspiring space 💛
Exciting things ahead!….

A little update about Thursday evenings 💫
I’ve made the decision to close my Thursday night class due to low numbers. This wasn’t an easy call, but to run classes sustainably they need regular, committed attendance — and I also need to earn a living.
I’ve genuinely loved holding this space and I’m so grateful to everyone who showed up, supported, and shared the journey with me. Our little group has meant a lot.
Please do stay connected here, because never say never — if things change in the future, I’ll absolutely let you know ✨
Thank you for being part of it 💛
*All other classes are still running as normal*

🚦 Action Stations! 🚦
This hall might not win any beauty contests…
but it’s full of laughter, movement, connection and feel-good energy ✨
Action Stations means:
👉 plenty of chatting
👉 lots of laughter
👉 and a surprisingly great workout
We move through 3 circuits of 8 different exercise stations, with options for every body – seated, standing, supported, challenged.
Including the much-loved indoor kurling “active rest” station 🎯 (where competitiveness quietly sneaks in 😉).
Before you know it, time has flown by and you’ve worked your:
✔️ whole body
✔️ brain
✔️ jaw muscles (from all the chatting 😂)
Proof that movement doesn’t have to be serious to be effective 💙
Group runs every Wednesday 10.15 - 11.15am (no group on 18/2)
First class free and then half price at just £3 until 18th March.

Monday morning warm up! ❄️🥶
27/01/2026
As we get older, an exercise class needs to be so much more than just exercise…
It should lift our mood, build friendships, make us laugh, and help us move our bodies in ways that genuinely make us feel better.
That’s exactly what you can expect from my Move It or Lose It class 💛
✨ My Marvellous Monday class 🎉
▪️ A friendly, chatty welcome as you arrive
▪️ A seated chair warm-up for the arms 🥁
▪️ Some serious (but doable!) strength and balance work 💪
▪️ Finished with a fun, feel-good cool-down
Come along for the movement, stay for the friendships — and always enjoy a warm welcome 🤗

This weekend has been all about learning and updating my knowledge ✨
As a Mioli instructor, I’m required to complete at least one CPD (continued professional development) every year – and I genuinely love doing it. It means I can keep offering classes that are safe, informed, and truly supportive for real bodies.
💚Saturday’s course focused on arthritis – understanding it better, how it affects movement, and how gentle, appropriate exercise can really help.
💚Sunday has been Pelvic Floor exercise revision.
So when you come to me for a class or a treatment, you can feel confident knowing you’re in safe, knowledgeable hands 🤍
Movement with me is always about care, confidence, and doing what feels right for your body.

I’ve never known so many of my class members to be unwell so I thought I’d share -
💛 Cold & Cough Support that I’ve learned over the years 💛
So many of you are dealing with that lingering cough/cold that just won’t shift at the moment.
*I’m not a medical practitioner*, but after years working in health & wellness (and listening to my own body), I’ve picked up a few supportive things that often help me & my family do what our body does best – heal itself.
• Reduce sugar, processed foods (think man made chemicals and additives!) plus ‘white’ foods
White bread, pasta, sugary snacks - all kinds of these can feed inflammation and slow recovery.
• Hydration matters more than we think
Drink LOTS of plain water.
Squash and hot cold drinks may feel soothing, but many contain artificial sweeteners and additives (yes, even the popular ones).
• Dairy can increase congestion for some people
Especially when you already have a cough or cold.
Try reducing milk, cheese or yoghurt for a few days and notice how your body responds.
• Good-quality vitamin C
Personally, I rely on vitamin C rather than over-the-counter remedies.
I increase my intake when I feel something coming on and continue for the duration — always listening to my body and easing back if it doesn’t feel right.
Again - check what you buy, the fizzy dissolvable tablets often have artificial sweetners 😱
• Gentle movement supports your lymph system
Nothing intense — walking, stretching, mobility, deep breathing.
Your lymph system relies on movement to help clear things out.
• Rest
Healing doesn’t happen when we’re constantly pushing through.
• Fresh air & daylight
Even a short wander outside in the garden can help more than we realise.
Your body isn’t broken — it may just need support and fewer obstacles 💛
Big hugs to all you snotty folk 🤗

I was literally just talking with someone about ginger for joints!
Sprinkle turmeric or ginger in meals where you can… it’s these tiny daily choices that reduce inflammation and support joint health 👍

Last night’s class really lived up to this 💙
A perfect blend of soothing stretch and quiet strength – exactly what everyone needed to calm away the crazy.
January always feels a little crazy to me… getting back into routine while trying not to overwhelm myself with all the new fads and regimes we’re constantly tempted with 🫣
Instead, I’m holding fast to simple wellbeing additions – the kind that help me feel good without pressure, punishment, or perfection.
So proud of our lovely little group… improvements already showing after just one week ✨
If you’re craving movement that feels calming and strengthening, you’d be so welcome to join us 🤍
