A day out in London today for me with some CPD at UCLโs Better Conversations conference.
It was a great opportunity to learn from other therapists and explore and refresh on approaches to supporting my adult clients with stroke, progressive neurological conditions and brain injury. Bringing back new ideas and inspiration! ๐๐

โจ In my NEW uniform today after a lovely summer break with my boys!
Wishing all our little clients the very best as they start or return to school this week. ๐
We know that transitions can sometimes be tricky, so remember weโre here with advice and support whenever you need it.
Go shine bright and fly high, little ones! ๐

๐๐Exciting news๐๐
From today, Castlepoint Independent Speech and Language Therapy is now Clarity Independent Speech and Language Therapy!
Why Clarity? Clarity generally means the quality of being clear, easy to understand, or transparent.
We chose this name because it embodies exactly what we do:
๐helping clients communicate clearly in whatever way they can and as best as they can.
๐ being clear and straight forward with accessing our service, our recommendations and approach.
๐working with transparency and integrity
๐ providing an excellent, award winning, sparkling service โจ ๐
As Clarity, weโre proud to be growing. Our services continue reaching more families and individuals across Essex, and our commitment to excellence is as strong as ever.
Rest assured:
โข Our website, contact details, team, services, and all other channels remain unchanged - itโs just our name thatโs evolving.
โข Same friendly faces, same compassionate care, same clinic base, website, payment methods, just a fresh new identity that better reflects what we stand for.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We canโt wait to continue supporting our clients under our new name!
Hereโs Lois and Jessica showing off our new uniform and branding - gorgeous! ๐
โญ A huge thank you to Rachael Harvey, our Practice Manager, for her unwavering dedication and hard work in bringing this rebrand to life.
โญ A heartfelt thanks to Rachael Hudson for designing our revamped logo.
โญ And a special thank you to Northsouth Design for supporting us as always with your creative brilliance and our website design and technicalities.

Every child deserves a voice and we just have to find the right way to hear it! ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฑ๐ฌ
Communication looks different for everyone โพ๏ธ
For my minimally speaking, hyperlexic GLP client, AAC has been the key to unlocking his language.
Here he uses his device to join in balloon play ๐- proof that play + motivation = meaningful communication

What a day on Friday! We went international with one of our bespoke training sessions! ๐๐ ๐ง๐ฉ ๐ฌ๐ง ๐ซ๐ท
Lois was an amazing presenter as always and the information she provided was very well received with lots of fantastic questions and discussions after.
I tuned in from my holiday in France so we really did go global! ๐ It was lovely to see my previous students, colleagues and friends and we had a record breaking 117 SLTs in Bangladesh join us ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
We hope to continue our collaboration with Society of Speech & Language Therapists - SSLT in the future ๐๐

In October 2012 I took three months of self funded leave to follow a dream of teaching neurology to 22 Speech & Language Therapy students and practising at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Savar, Bangladesh ๐ง๐ฉ.
It was an incredible, humbling experience that stretched and enriched all of my professional and clinical skills.
I participated in clinics, provided student supervision, met fellow professionals and students from all around the world and worked within a healthcare system that was very different to the UK. While I was there I also had the privilege of taking part in a cleft camp, helping with the aftercare of children following cleft lip and palate surgery.
I returned to the UK with renewed enthusiasm for our wonderful profession and a broader perspective on my own practice which has carried me through my career since.
Iโm so grateful to have kept in touch with colleagues I met there, and tomorrow Iโm proud to showcase some of our fantastic work at CISLT to the Society of Speech and Language Therapists in Bangladesh via an international webinar.
Lois Beecham will be introducing Gestalt Language Processing and sharing her fantastic knowledge and experience on this subject. We are very excited! ๐๐

There she is! Our Lois is going international with one of her amazing training sessions in a couple of weeks, providing The Society of Speech and Language Therapists in Bangladesh with an introduction to Gestalt Language Processing.
With links to Bangladesh SLT since 2012, where I taught and supervised student Speech and Language Therapist placements in Savar Bangladesh, Iโm so excited we can collaborate once again!

We have had a handwritten letter from a CEO of a School Academy Trust, personally thanking us for our input this year. Such a fantastic way for us to end the academic year! As we do with everything at CISLT, we have put our heart and soul into our school services and it's certainly paid off with this feedback ๐
We are so proud of our flexible and innovative school services. We offer:
๐Flexible 1:1 assessment and therapy, including group setups for students.
๐ A range of dynamic trainings, including twilight sessions, to train teaching and support staff to support students individually and embed whole school approaches.
๐ A "Communication Champion" training programme for selected members of staff to be able to lead on interventions on a daily basis for students.
๐ A range of specialisms within our team that allow for specialist and complex needs assessment, EHCP support and specialist interventions and settings.
๐ Advice and support on referring and planning further input, including EOTAS packages for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
If you are interested in exploring our services for your school or trust, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We can adapt our services to any need and budget. You choose how you work with us. Take a look at our website for more information on our preschool/ school services. ๐๐

๐๐ School Based CISLT Services ๐๐
Jessica, one of our Speech and Language Therapists, has been having great fun this week using a sensory story of โWeโre Going on a Bear Huntโ in our school serviceโs early language skills groups ๐พ๐๏ธโ๏ธ๐ป
๐ Using Hula skirts to โSwishy, swashyโ through the grass
๐ฆ Mini spray bottles to โSplash, sploshโ across the river
โญ โSquelching, squelchingโ through the muddy playdoh
โ๏ธ โHooo-hooingโ through the snowstorm using handheld fans to whip up a snowy breeze.
All whilst the children learnt prepositions โoverโ and โunderโ, new vocabulary and practiced their story telling skills.
By combining movement and sensory elements, abstract concepts became real, engagement with new vocabulary and listening and speaking in sentences were high and lots of fun was had!

I am Amy Williams, a practising Speech and Language Therapist, specialising in swallowing and communication difficulties following a neurological event such as a stroke or brain injury. I also work within elderly care and with clients with dementia. I have a special interest in child speech disorders too.
I have been working as a Speech and Language Therapist for 13 years within the NHS and independently.
I offer comprehensive assessment and treatment of acquired neurological speech and language impairments such as aphasia, cognitive communication difficulties, dysarthria, apraxia of speech and paediatric speech disorders/delay. I can provide regular therapy, if required and appropriate and can include activities that the client can do in their own time or with family and/or carers.
I am also able to offer adult dysphagia (swallowing) assessments within a client's own home or care home and can develop an appropriate care plan from my bedside assessment, including liaising with other key professionals involved in the client's care and providing training to family and carers. This includes assessment for clients who may be approaching the end of their life.
Please call or email me for an informal discussion as to whether I am a suitable therapist for you
