Through mechanisms like mirror neurons, your brain reflects the emotions of those around you, while physiological synchrony can subtly align your breathing and heart rate with theirs. This is supported by *limbic resonance*, where calm, grounded individuals can help regulate your stress response, lowering cortisol and slowing your heart rate.
