Cervical Cancer Prevention Week - 19th January - 23rd January

Cervical Cancer Prevention Week is a reminder that regular cervical screening saves lives. Cervical cancer is highly preventable, and screening helps detect early cell changes caused by HPV before they can develop into cancer. Women aged 25–64 are encouraged to attend their cervical screening appointment to protect their health and future—early detection means simpler treatment, better outcomes, and peace of mind.

Why cervical screening is important for women aged 25–64:

Detects abnormal cell changes before they turn into cancer

Identifies high-risk HPV early

Greatly reduces the risk of developing cervical cancer

Screening is quick, routine, and often lifesaving

Early treatment leads to better outcomes and fewer complications

Improving access to healthcare for Travelling Communities

Research carried out in 2023/24 explored how Travelling Communities could be better supported and also have access to healthcare. The study found that when these communities are overlooked or “invisible", it can lead to real barriers in getting the care they need.

To help raise awareness and highlight community needs, Oblique Arts has created an awareness poster.

📢 Important Update: New Online Appointment System

From 14 January 2026, we’ll be changing our online appointment booking and consultation system. We’ll be moving from Rapid Health to GP Triage.

💡 Why the change?
After reviewing how our current system works for both patients and staff, we found that GP Triage offers a more flexible, clinically led approach. Instead of only symptom-based questionnaires, it allows you to explain your concerns in your own words, helping our team respond more efficiently and personally.

⚙️ A system designed for our practice
We’ve tailored GP Triage to suit how our practice works, including:
✅ Online booking for blood tests, physiotherapy, childhood immunisations, cervical smears, and medication reviews
✅ Clear signposting to other services (such as sexual health and vision care) so you can get the right help more quickly

This should reduce delays, streamline requests, and improve your overall experience.

🌐 How you’ll access it
There’s no change to how you access online consultations through our website. You’ll use the same buttons as usual — from 15 January 2026, they’ll simply link to GP Triage instead.

📞 Other options still available
Telephone appointments and other traditional routes will remain available for anyone who cannot use online services.

ℹ️ We’ll share more information closer to the launch date, including simple guidance on how to use the new system.

Thank you for your continued support 💙

📢 New Pilot Testing at Our Surgery

We are pleased to let patients know that we are now piloting FebriDx testing kits at our surgery.

These quick finger-prick tests can help us identify whether an infection is more likely to be viral or bacterial, supporting your GP to make more informed decisions during your appointment.

👉 As part of this pilot, some patients may be contacted and asked to arrive a little earlier than their scheduled appointment to have the test carried out. The result will then be available for your GP to discuss with you during your consultation.

Thank you for your cooperation as we trial this new approach to improving patient care. 💙

Dear patients,

The Medicines Optimisation Team at Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire and Berkshire Integrated Board (BOB ICB) have commissioned a new service to oversee all aspects of patients' stoma, urology, and trans a**l irrigation product prescribing. This service has been set up specifically to enhance the care people using these products.

This change means that GP practices will no longer issue prescriptions for these appliances. This includes items such as catheters, stoma bags, base plates, adhesive remover, and other associated additional products (e.g., leg/night drainage bags and barrier spray).

Prescriptions for these products will be issued by the new BOB Appliance Management Prescription Service, which serves patients in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West.

Our go live date will be 19th January 2026.

The service will be run by a dedicated team of specialist nurse prescribers and personal advisors to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Further details of the BOB Appliance Management Prescription Service including patient and health care resources and contact details of the service.
