Combined with a degree in Sports Science and as a mother of two, she has always had a particular interest in physiological birth and achieving a po
sitive birth experience. Having participated in pregnancy yoga in her own pregnancies and experienced the benefits first hand both personally and as a midwife she is passionate about teaching and sharing the wonderful benefits of yoga practice. Participating in yoga regularly during your pregnancy can have a positive effect on posture, sleep, stamina and comfort. It can release tension from both your body and mind, enhancing your sense of well being and enjoyment of your pregnancy. Birthlight yoga is a gentle and adapted form of classic yoga safe in pregnancy. The yoga poses can help tone and balance the soft tissues in the body allowing greater comfort and space for your growing baby. You will have the opportunity to develop breathing and relaxation techniques which can be used during your labour and birth experience. I also include pelvic floor exercises and poses that encourage your baby to adopt positive birthing positions. These classes allow you time to step out of busy day to day life and to reconnect with yourself, your changing body and growing baby, as well as meeting other mothers to be. As an experienced midwife, Rachel supports you with your yoga practice and creates a relaxing atmosphere where you can come and share experiences, anxieties and questions. Rachel is a Lactation Consultant - IBCLC working privately to support parents reach their breastfeeding goals. She offers feeding workshops (both group or 1:1 sessions) as well as being a FEDANT accredited antenatal educator offering birth preparation workshops (both group or 1:1).
