Happy International Women’s Day!🥳 Rather than pull an inspirational quote off the internet, we wanted to celebrate International Women’s Day with an amazing woman close to home – Meglio’s very own Liya🥰

Liya is from China and started her career as a textile buyer then through hard work, she soon had her own textile business.

This business generated enough money for her to travel overseas to complete an MBA.

After finishing her MBA at the Aberystwyth University, she was armed with a shiny qualification and also a young daughter, Liola, so rather than go off into the world of commerce, she decided to sell wedding dresses as the job allowed her to work from home (this was 2009, so not quite the norm back then).

This gave her the flexibility to work and earn money whilst being able to spend time with her daughter – a challenge that a lot of women face.

Working and bringing up a daughter on a her own was tough so Liya decided to return to China to be nearer to her family.

Sadly, Liola didn’t like the school in China and was very unhappy. To fully support Liola, Liya decided to come back to the UK and get a job, she found one as a buyer.

Luckily for Meglio, she then came to work for us in 2015 and has been instrumental in helping to drive the business forward.

Since then, as a single Mum, she’s managed to buy a very nice apartment, being an inspiration and a hero to her daughter.

Without Liya, Meglio would not be Meglio. We want to thank her for all of her hard work and effort and we hope that her story resonates with the other amazing women out there👏🏻👏🏻
