When do you really use your arms without your core? ๐Ÿค” Probablyโ€ฆ never.

Weโ€™re often taught to train them separately - arms here, core there. But your body doesnโ€™t work like that.

Every time you lift, push, pull or reach, your arms and core work together. Thatโ€™s exactly how we train in Pilates.

In this sequence, every movement builds both upper body strength and core stability - no isolation, just strong, connected movement.

The result? Stronger arms, a supportive core and a body that moves with ease and confidence.

This is what happens when you stop training body parts - and start training movement.

Reformer vs mat - which one is right for you?

Both are brilliant and equally effective - but it all comes down to your personal goals (and preferences)!

The reformer builds strength faster using spring resistance, while mat Pilates grounds you in fundamentals and is great for flexibility and mindfulness.

At Berkshire Pilates, we use both - because your body deserves the best of both worlds

Ever wondered what each spring actually does?

Light, medium and strong - 3 springs. 3 completely different workouts.

The common misconception is the heavier the resistance = the harder the workout. But, that's not the case in Pilates!

A lighter spring actually demands more from your core - your body has to work harder to control the movement without the support of the extra resistance.

That's why spring selection is one of the most important parts of your workout!

(Bear in mind every reformer brand is a little different). Some machines may have different colours with different weights - the principle is always the same, even if the colours aren't!

So if you've done Pilates somewhere else and the colours don't match - don't worry, Edyta will guide you through every step.

Still think Pilates is just for women? Think again.

Pilates was actually created by a man - and today, some of the worldโ€™s top male athletes swear by it. From Premier League footballers to professional rugby players.

Why? Because it builds real strength, stability and resilience - helping you move better and stay injury-free.

Ready to give it a go? Your first class is waiting.
