Practice Closure for Staff Training

Just a reminder that the surgery will be closed for staff training from 13:00 – 18:30 on Thursday 12th March.

We will reopen as normal at 08:00 on Friday 13th March.

If you need urgent medical advice during this time, please contact NHS 111. GP cover has been arranged locally.

📣 GP Patient Survey – Have Your Say📣

Some of our patients may receive the GP Patient Survey through the post over the coming weeks.

The survey is run by NHS England and helps understand patients’ experiences of GP services across the country. Your feedback is very important and helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve.

If you receive a survey, we would really appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete it. If you have had a positive experience with our team, we would love for you to share this in the survey.

All responses are completely confidential, and the results are published nationally.

Spring COVID Booster Clinics

Our Spring COVID Booster programme will begin from 13th April 2026, and we will be running vaccination clinics at the surgery from mid-April.

📱 Eligible patients will receive a text message with a booking link over the next few weeks.
If you do not have a mobile phone, or do not book using the link, a member of our team will call you to arrange your appointment.

📞 Please wait for us to contact you – there is no need to call reception to book.

Who is eligible?
• People aged 75 and over (or turning 75 by 30 June 2026)
• People aged 18–74 who are severely immunosuppressed

💉 RSV Vaccine Update
From April, patients aged 80 and over will also become eligible for the RSV vaccine. Patients aged 75+ who have not yet had their RSV vaccine may be offered this at the same time as their COVID booster.

🏡 Housebound patients and care home residents will be contacted separately to arrange their vaccinations.

Huge congratulations to Lucia who is completing her Business Administration Apprenticeship with us 👏

We are absolutely thrilled that she has received a Highly Commended Award during National Apprenticeship Week at the PMA Awards 🌟

This is such a fantastic achievement and so well deserved. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of the Theale Medical Centre team.

💜 Retirement Announcement 💜

It is with sadness that we announce that Dr Rock will be retiring from Theale Medical Centre at the end of March, after 29 years of dedicated service.

Dr Rock has made the decision to retire in order to spend more time with her family and friends. During her time at the practice, she has cared for generations of patients and played a vital role in supporting our community.

Dr Rock would like to share the following message:

“I feel extremely privileged to have worked with such an amazing team at TMC. Every person in the practice plays a vital supportive role in providing medical care to our community. It has been an honour to work alongside such dedicated colleagues. I would also like to thank the Patient Participation Group for their continued support of Theale, Calcot and the surrounding villages.”

Dr Rock’s patients will continue to be cared for by our existing and expanding clinical team.

She will be greatly missed by both patients and staff, and we would like to thank her for her commitment, compassion and dedication over nearly three decades.

We wish Dr Rock a long, happy and well deserved retirement 💐💐

Flu season is still here and flu jabs are still available for those who need them.

If you are eligible, getting your flu vaccination helps protect you and those around you, especially people who are more vulnerable to serious illness.

You may be eligible if you are:
• Aged 65 or over
• Pregnant
• Have a long term health condition
• A carer
• Living with someone who has a weakened immune system

If you think you are eligible and have not yet had your flu jab, please contact the practice to book an appointment.

Protect yourself this winter and get vaccinated.
