At Park Lane Orthodontics, we know that spotting the early signs can make a world of difference to your child’s smile. Here are some things we often look out for:
1️⃣ Crowded or overlapping teeth – when there doesn’t seem to be enough room for teeth to come in properly.
2️⃣ Gaps between teeth – Large spaces may signal alignment or jaw development issues.
3️⃣ Difficulty biting or chewing – If they bite their cheek or lips often, or your child may struggle with certain foods.
4️⃣ Protruding teeth – Teeth that stick out can be more prone to damage.
5️⃣ Mouth breathing or speech issues or other detrimental oral habits such as thumb-sucking beyond 5-6 years old.
6️⃣ Overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite
7️⃣ Early or late loss of baby teeth (losing them much earlier or later than peers can affect adult tooth alignment).
Here at Park Lane Orthodontics,we usually recommend an early check-up by age 7–8, even if no issues are obvious yet. Early assessment can help catch developing problems and sometimes prevent more complex treatment later.
