A surgeon with the community at heart

Spire Dunedin Hospital is proud of its long history and a little bit of investigation, with help from the History of Reading Society has produced the following quote from the obituary of James Leonard Joyce, the founder of the hospital:

"... many hundreds of patients have been treated with the finest professional skill and with a devotion and patience which was beyond all praise. Many people owe their health and even their lives to this ability and unwearying care."

These are still the core values of the hospital 80 years after his death - let the strength and depth of our past be part of your future.
