🌙Ardha Chandrasana - half moon pose🌙

Rooted in modern yoga, featuring in B. K. S. Iyengar's Light on Yoga.

The pose requires steady focus so we can find equanimity under instability. It encourages us to take up space, reaching through to all corners of the body, expansive and spacious.

Since balance can feel precarious at times, the pose asks us to gain grounding in the supporting foot, focus with our Drishti (gaze) and trust in ourselves to find that balance point. When wobbles arise we can welcome them with humble lightness and begin again.

I love how using a block brings me more space and steadiness so I can focus on being present and breathing deeply and slowly.

Why not try a block and see how it feels because it might help you find your balance and grounded presence.

✨Natarajasana (Dancers Pose)✨

I find this a joyous pose to practice. Nata means dance, raja means king/Lord and asana means pose so we can translate this as Lord of the dance pose.

Nataraja was one of Shiva's profound and symbolic forms which displays a whole philosophy expressed through movement.

The posture represents Tandava Natyam, the cosmic dance performed by Shiva in his guise as Nataraja. Tandava Natyam is the cosmic dance, the pulse of the cycle of creation and destruction.

Shiva dances as Nataraja, whirling through phases of howling rage and ecstatic bliss. He dances the universe down the Milenia to it's fiery end then dances it back into being all over again. This posture is the embodiment of this dance.

The pose requires us to embody expansion as we open the heart centre, focus as we find our balance point and power as we lean into the strength in the back of the body and the supporting leg.

💜I love this pose as it reminds me to stand strong and take up space in the world, which is extremely uplifting .
