We’re delighted to welcome Nicola Kenworthy to the Formula Health family 🙌

Nicola specialises in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), a gentle, highly effective therapy designed to support the lymphatic system, reduce swelling, aid post-surgical recovery, and promote overall wellbeing. Her work is particularly beneficial for clients managing lymphoedema, post-operative healing, and those looking to support detoxification and immune function.

We're starting the year thrilled to introduce Sarah Loveland to the Formula Family 😃 🙏 A highly experienced therapist, with over 30 years in holistic practice.

As well as her incredible massage therapy and reflexology skillset, Sarah will enhance our mental health services with the introduction of Hypnotherapy to the Formula Health clinic.

Hypnotherapy is a fascinating area of neuroscience that has been shown to help with creating lasting behavioural change, addressing fear responses, anxiety, chronic pain and supporting those with various forms of addiction.

We'll be sharing various clips from the likes of Professor Andrew Huberman and Dr David Speigel over the coming weeks to provide interesting insights into the power of Hypnotherapy.

Neurobiological Explanation of Hypnotherapy:

​Based on fMRI research, Dr. Spiegel notes that hypnosis impacts the brain by:

🧠​Decreasing Activity in the Salience Network:

Specifically, activity decreases in the anterior cingulate cortex, the part of the brain that detects potential threats and is involved in the internal alarm system. This reduction allows one to focus without the interference of anxiety.

🧠​Enhancing Connectivity:

There is an intensified connection between the brain's executive control network (responsible for planning and action) and the insula (which processes body information), suggesting a stronger mind-body connection and increased control over physical and emotional responses.

​This unique brain state is what allows hypnotherapy to be an effective tool for managing chronic pain, reducing stress, improving sleep, and breaking bad habits by enabling cognitive flexibility.

By 30 years old, we’ve reached peak bone mass, and from then on it’s about making informed choices to protect what we have.

REMS technology (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry) is radiation-free, quick (just 1–2 minutes per scan) and not only measures bone density but also analyses bone microarchitecture—the fine structure of trabecular and cortical bone.

From this, it generates a Fragility Score, which helps predict fracture risk more accurately than Bone Mineral Density alone.

Studies show REMS can even pick up hidden weaknesses that DEXA misses, and its safety means scans can be repeated regularly to track progress.

REMS is already being used in hospitals, clinics, and even by NASA to monitor bone loss in astronauts and now it is accessible locally at Formula Health.
