❤️This family has my heart! ❤️

I stopped working as a doula a long while ago and that was super hard for me as I transition into becoming a midwife. When I was teaching our monthly class one night for this beautiful couple approached me and asked if I’d be their doula. I apologized and said no I’m not taking clients anymore. This mamma asked I just think about it because she knew I was meant to be at her birth. She also told me she’d have her baby the weekend of the 13th…. A little, ” yea ok” popped in my head with a giggle. Well here we are! Lol 😆

Well I thought about it and something in my heart helped me say yes. We joked that I’d come out of retirement for them lol. There was a sign 🦚 and a strong unspoken connection to them ! I adore this now family of three. They are amazing humans!

Total bonus, they hired my daughter to photograph which was a total plus and meant so much to work along side her again. What a magical day! Congratulations you guys. You are an amazing team! Also, Happy Father’s Day! Nothing with ever top this Father’s Day for you guys. Love you all!

Today my youngest son joined us for “Take Your Child To Work Day”. He learned all about babies and women’s health. He was a total trooper asking the best questions and learning about women’s bodies. It was so refreshing how many families welcomed him into their appointments without hesitation. Of course he stepped out for anything too revealing but ultimately he learned so much. His favorite part was the glucose testing and metabolic screening for babies. Who knows maybe he will be a phlebotomist or hematologist lol.

Thanks to April my mentor, boss, and all around amazing human for welcoming him today. We are changing the world and making a change in future dads!

Fun story about the good in the world I experienced today!

A few weeks ago I found out Taylor aka Dude Dad and Heidi were coming to Vegas for a show. Of course I had to go since they have cracked me up for years! I mean seriously they are hilarious and such a fun couple.

Well life happens and I got called to a birth today. Of course it was amazing supporting this beautiful family for the second time. There was no place I’d rather be… however it meant I needed my friend to find herself another date. Her friend took my ticket and I planned to just hear about their night later. After this birth was over I realized I had time to meet them for a quick drink near the comedy club.

When I arrived the gals were in line to meet them after the show. Well, I decided to give it a shot and explain my day to the venue, . They let me in for the meet and greet! I almost cried because I never had thought they’d say yes. After meeting Taylor and Heidi and sharing my excitement of the day it got even better! Heidi said, “why don’t you stay for the next show?!” We got sat front row, a comped drink, and VIP treatment! It was clear everyone I met today was a good human. I just love serendipitous days like today!

Do you know who Dude Dad is? If you don’t…give them a follow. You won’t regret it! Not only are they hilarious but super great humans as well. Thanks again for a spectacular evening!

What a fantastic year! This was my most successful year since becoming a Doula, CLC, and Student midwife. Without my beautiful clients, they’re babies, the team I work with at Serenity, Dr. Adrienne at VFC, and my backup doula and dear friend Regina Roy none of this would have been possible! Supporting growing families is my passion and I love what I do. It makes for long days and nights but I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Birthing people deserve to be respected, cared for, and treated well. It’s an honor to hold space for so many. Here are some fun stats 👇
