We had Holly the artist visit our Carlin How session last week making a light sculpture for the Village of Light at Loftus.
Why not pop over tonight or tomorrow night to see the children’s creation

✨ Village of Light returns; let’s ✨
Over two March evenings Coronation Park will be transformed into an illuminated lantern village created by local people working with handpicked artists, alongside light art, storytelling and family friendly creative fun. All FREE to enjoy – just drop in!
And as dusk falls across Friday 6 and Saturday 7 March, wander through a trail of lanterns inspired by the natural landscape, wildlife and seasonal rhythms of the coast. You might spot familiar birds, imagined creatures or glowing forms that seem to appear only once night settles in.
Each evening will include:
📖 Storytelling sessions that bring imagination to life – cosy, captivating tales that will delight children and grown-ups alike.
🎪 Roll Up, Roll Up by Hannah Fox – get ready to let your imagination run away with the story book circus.
🐦 Loved Ones by Lou Chapelle - an illuminated installation of beautiful cheeky holographic robins playfully brightening up the park.
🎨 Drop-in creative workshops with artists - create light-inspired creations to take home.
💡And the star of the show; a Loftus lantern village brought to life by local schools, families and community groups, all working alongside brilliant artists to create glowing, handmade lanterns for the event.
Village of Light is free and open to all ages.
📅 Friday 6 and Saturday 7 March
⏰ 6pm-9pm
📍 Coronation Park, Loftus
🆓 FREE
💫 No tickets – just drop in!
Wrap up warm, take your time, and enjoy a relaxed winter (but very nearly Spring) evening of light, imagination and community in the heart of Loftus. 🌠
Village of Light is organised by Stellar Creates and supported by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Borderlands Creative People & Places and North York Moors National Park.

It's been inspiring to collaborate with people who truly understand our mission and values. We can't wait to share even more of what we've been working on 🤝

For our session with Hannah the poet on Monday at Carlin How Art group, she created a wonderful story about the characters the children had imagined. I seem to recall Mr Poopoopants and everyone laughing!
During the gaps the children make some fantastic paper aeroplanes and a landing strip where the planes had to actually land on the table - some were close enough but there is still some piloting practice to master

What a brilliant session we had at Carlin How - the children continued and were engaged in the poetry and story sessions with Hannah from Borderlands. We had various activity stations such as decorating biscuits, meccano, lego, paper airplanes, weaving and games...........phew what a lot to fit in an hour n a half!!!

Just a call out for any donations of building toys such as meccano or similar and if you wouldn't mind donating it for the children to learn, we would really appreciate some - using tools such as screwdrivers, spanners and allen keys builds manual dexterity and develops the ability to move hands and fingers with precision, speed, and accuracy, it also helps develops fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination ........... but its also lots of fun!

Something special is on the horizon...

Since 2016, we have provided local people with support and better equipped family and community members to support each other, increasing social inclusion and wellbeing across our community 🏡

As our charity is evolving, a fresh identity is coming that better reflects who we've become and where we're going next.
