Today, some of our Honeybees showed great enthusiasm for potion making! We combined shaving cream and water, adding vibrant colours to our mix. During this fun activity, the children not only recognised different colours, shapes, and sizes but also engaged in mixing, pouring, and stirring. This hands-on experience helped them develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while also introducing early mathematical concepts.

Earlier this week, we began looking for the first signs of spring, and today the children enjoyed a lovely walk to the shop to buy flowers. Once back at nursery, we used these flowers to create beautiful sun catchers, discussing the various colours and scents of each one. This afternoon, we made rice crispy cakes, decorating them with bee sprinkles and butterfly sugar paper. While we were decorating our cakes, we chatted about the animals we might be lucky enough to spot in spring time and possibly now that the weather is getting warmer. The honeybees really enjoyed all things spring today ๐ŸŒบ ๐ŸŒท ๐Ÿ

The babees loved our trip to Locke park this afternoon! We began with a snooze ๐Ÿ˜ด in the pushchairs on our way there, followed by fun on the swings. We then fed the squirrels and enjoyed a mini milk treat in the February sunshine โ˜€๏ธ

Thanks for a gorgeous afternoon together babees! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿซถ

Den Building

This morning the children worked together to collect sticks and build themselves a den.

Working together on a shared goal such as den building, involves negotiation, communication, and cooperation. The private, enclosed space provides a sense of security and a place for emotional regulation.

This morning, the children had a fantastic time exploring the vet role-play area. They engaged in a matching game and practised wrapping pets in bandages. They even put bandages on each other. Throughout the activity, they used language skills while naming different animals.

The children then searched for the animals in the lentils and rice, they used their hands to move the materials around the tuft tray to discover the animals.

Well done honeybees ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿน๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฐ
