I thought you’d enjoy seeing this photo. She turned 8 months old yesterday and was 8 weeks when she had her tongue tie released with you.

She is thoroughly enjoying her weaning journey and is also about to use a sippy weighted straw cup and has plenty of movement in her tongue with lots of poking out tongue faces and smiles.

It changed us as a little forever ❤️ "

1st Visit - Leamington Spa 🎀

Parents were informed that as the baby was putting on weight, hcps had no concerns.
*No full feeding assessment had taken place.

2nd Visit - Barnt Green 💙

Assessment for reformation due to crossing nearly 2 centiles. Misinformation provided to parents by hcps which delayed parents to reach out for reassessment.
*No full feeding assessment had taken place.

3rd Visit - Birmingham 💙

An NHS tongue tie referral was made at 4 weeks of age. Sadly, it was lost in the system, and now the baby is above the age threshold to be seen.
*No full feeding assessment had taken place.

4th Visit - Malvern 💙

Parents were informed that as the baby was putting on weight, hcps had no concerns.
*No full feeding assessment had taken place.

Do you see the theme?? 🤦‍♀️

HCPs - It's important to obseve a full feed from the start, middle, and to the end. Ask the right questions. Make the early referrals and ensure a follow-up has been made if the parents have not heard back in a timely manner.

Leaving the house for the first time to attend an appointment with your new baby can feel overwhelming. Have we remembered everything thing we need? The baby bag? Nappies? Wipes? Muslin? Change of clothes? The red child health book? Change for carparking?

Instead, book an appointment with myself where I come to you, and you can remain in the comfort of your own home with everything to hand. 😊

This poor family had been fobbed off for the 16 weeks of this babies' feeding journey. Mum knew something wasn't right, but no one would listen. Hcps giving non evidenced based advice or worse their personal advice based on that hcps babies feeding history. Undermining this mums concerns.

From initial breastfeeding difficulties that didn't improve ending her breastfeeding journey. To bottle feeding aversion, slow weight gain, reflux, colic, an unhappy unsettled baby around her feed times.
So to hear that this lovely baby is not fighting the bottle and she is drinking her milk is a huge achievement (procedure performed yesterday afternoon) ! 🙌

Always follow your gut instinct and keep advocating for you and your baby.
