This poor family had been fobbed off for the 16 weeks of this babies' feeding journey. Mum knew something wasn't right, but no one would listen. Hcps giving non evidenced based advice or worse their personal advice based on that hcps babies feeding history. Undermining this mums concerns.

From initial breastfeeding difficulties that didn't improve ending her breastfeeding journey. To bottle feeding aversion, slow weight gain, reflux, colic, an unhappy unsettled baby around her feed times.
So to hear that this lovely baby is not fighting the bottle and she is drinking her milk is a huge achievement (procedure performed yesterday afternoon) ! 🙌

Always follow your gut instinct and keep advocating for you and your baby.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of the families that have entrusted me with their new babies during their feeding and Tongue-tie journey throughout this year.

I look forward to supporting all of the new families in 2026.

Happy Christmas 🎄
Love to all.

A tongue restriction will impact how your baby can create effective attachment and form a calm coordinated suck swallow pattern.

Symptoms can show as...
*Shallow attachment to the teat
*Chomping
*Guzzling
*Choking
*Spluttering
*Coughing
*Excessive milk dribble
*Clicking
*Slow feeders/prolonged feeding sessions
*Tires easily
*Unsettled/fussy/frustrated during feeds
*Reflux
*Colic
*Bottle/feeding aversion

You may buy all the bottles that advertise "anti-colic." But no improvement.

You may be advised to change the milk due to ?Cows Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA)? But no improvement.

You may be advised to medicate with Infacol, Gaviscon, or Omeprazole. But short term or no improvement.

You may be advised to use glycerin suppositories if your baby is showing signs of constipation. But short term or no improvement.

You just know in your gut that something isn't quite right. Always seek a full feeding and fumctional oral assessment from the right specialist professional!

To be become a frenulotomist (tongue tie practitioner) requires additional training in Ankyloglossia (Tongue-tie) at University Masters level 7 where we learn more detailed A&P of the tongue and its function and how this impacts upon infantfeeding, whether breast or bottle feeding.

We then get to work alongside a qualified Tongue-tie practitioner in a clinic environment, assessing babies feeding concerns, using a scoring system to assess their oral function, and if clinically indicated and with consent go onto divide a minimum of 25 identified Tongue-tie ties. A written assessment is then submitted, and this is where we gain our qualification, showing that we are safe, evidence based practitioners.

If you have been told that your baby does or doesn't have a tongue-tie and the diagnosing practitioner never put on gloves and assessed your babies tongue function, please ask for their qualification and then seek the right qualified support, whether this is within the NHS or reaching out to avoid NHS wait times to a private tongue tie practitioner.
