May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month.

Bladder cancer is one of the more common cancers, yet its symptoms are often overlooked. The most common early sign is blood in the urine (often painless), but other symptoms can include frequent or urgent urination, pain or burning when urinating, and lower abdominal or back discomfort.

Knowing the signs matters. When detected early, bladder cancer is often more treatable, so it’s important to speak to a GP if you notice persistent urinary symptoms.

Help Us Reduce Missed GP Appointments

We understand that life can be busy and unpredictable, and sometimes making it to a GP appointment isn’t always possible.

However, missed appointments do have an impact. Each unused slot is time that could have been offered to another patient waiting for care, and it adds pressure to already stretched GP services.

If you’re unable to attend, letting your surgery know as soon as you can makes a real difference. It allows someone else to be seen sooner and helps keep services running smoothly for everyone.

A small action, like cancelling or rescheduling, can go a long way in supporting your local healthcare team and your community.
