May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month.

Bladder cancer is one of the more common cancers, yet its symptoms are often overlooked. The most common early sign is blood in the urine (often painless), but other symptoms can include frequent or urgent urination, pain or burning when urinating, and lower abdominal or back discomfort.

Knowing the signs matters. When detected early, bladder cancer is often more treatable, so it’s important to speak to a GP if you notice persistent urinary symptoms.

Useful NHS information:

Bladder cancer: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/bladder-cancer/
Blood in urine: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/blood-in-urine/

Raising awareness can help more people get diagnosed sooner and improve outcomes.

Help Us Reduce Missed GP Appointments

We understand that life can be busy and unpredictable, and sometimes making it to a GP appointment isn’t always possible.

However, missed appointments do have an impact. Each unused slot is time that could have been offered to another patient waiting for care, and it adds pressure to already stretched GP services.

If you’re unable to attend, letting your surgery know as soon as you can makes a real difference. It allows someone else to be seen sooner and helps keep services running smoothly for everyone.

A small action, like cancelling or rescheduling, can go a long way in supporting your local healthcare team and your community.

Thank you for helping us provide the best care possible.

This week is Allergy Awareness Week, a time to shine a light on allergies and the millions of people who live with them every day.

Allergies can range from mild to severe and can affect daily life in many different ways from food and pollen allergies to reactions that can be serious and life-threatening. Behind every case is someone managing symptoms, triggers, and constant awareness of their environment.

If you want to learn more or find trusted advice, the NHS provides clear information:
πŸ‘‰ Overview of allergies, symptoms and treatment: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/allergies/

πŸ‘‰ Hay fever (a common seasonal allergy): https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hay-fever/

πŸ‘‰ Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis): https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/anaphylaxis/

Let’s take a moment this week to increase understanding, support those living with allergies, and appreciate the work of healthcare professionals and researchers helping to improve treatment and safety.

Small awareness and simple understanding can make a big difference. πŸ’™

This week, it’s a moment to shine a light on multiple sclerosis and the many people living with it every day.

MS is a long-term condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, and its symptoms can vary widely from person to person. Behind every diagnosis is someone navigating uncertainty, resilience, and change.

If you want to learn more, here are some trusted NHS resources:

πŸ‘‰ MS overview, symptoms and treatment:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/multiple-sclerosis/

πŸ‘‰ MS Trust support and information (via NHS service directory): https://www.nhs.uk/services/service-directory/multiple-sclerosis-trust/N10501229

πŸ‘‰ MS Society support and advice (via NHS links and partners):
https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/brain-nerves-and-spinal-cord/multiple-sclerosis-ms/

Small gestures of awareness and kindness can go a long way. πŸ’™
