***January ends and February begins***

For me, February started with a dog walk, a coffee & a cookie at a café. Nothing amazingly spectacular, just a day starting.

Now it’s finishing with a roast dinner and a glass of wine. Also just a day.

For a lot of people, January isn’t a crisis or a reset. It’s routine, low energy, getting on with things as we recharge for the year ahead.

The nights are now getting lighter. That can be the first sign you might be ready to come out of hibernation, slowly, without fanfare or a life changing routine that we don't keep up.

No need to assess the month. No lessons required. It’s enough that January has passed and now we can start looking into the months ahead.

I hope your January went well and I also hope that your February is even better.

***‘Just snap out of it’***

Ha! If only it were so simple. Depression, anxiety and overwhelm doesn't respond to force of will, blame or shame. And guess what kind of approach I most commonly see in session? Yep, force of will, blaming & shaming.

Try being gentle with yourself today and see how differently you feel.

***NOISE AS AVOIDANCE***

Do you notice how easy it is to fill silence with noise? Podcasts, music, scrolling, YouTube.

Silence can sometimes feel scary, like something uncomfortable might show up - even more so if you're feeling anxious!

But what CAN show up in silence is peace, clarity and calm.

It can take some practice, but it it possible to be comfortable with your own thoughts, you don't have to rely on drowning them out.

I'm very proud to practice what I preach today!

After a very busy work week, I cancelled a plan I had made for this weekend and felt two things at once - relief and guilt.

But just because I felt guilt, it doesn't mean I've done anything wrong (in fact it means the opposite), the relief felt is actually information, a message, and I've done just what I need to do.

It doesn’t mean I don’t care, it just means my capacity needed listening to and I listened.
