Hello all 😊😊 so after a really madly busy spring and summer, I feel a little like the chap peaking into the autumn and wondering how this winter will be 🤣

I've had several people ask if I'm still offering Shiatsu, so I'm assuming I've been to quiet with social media and what's on and coming up.

So yes, Shiatsu and energy work are still on offer. With the work in Critical care now over 2 days, I can only offer sessions early in the week or on Saturdays. I still offer drum and sound healing, and the drum circle is still going strong with bi weekly meet ups, message me if you're interested in trying that out.

This Autumn there are plans to offer a Shiatsu taster day or weekend which gives you the opportunity to learn how to offer simple Shiatsu to friends and family, it'll explore some of the theory and deeper knowledge underpinning this beautiful practice also (such as yin and yang theory, the 5 elements and coming feom Hara)

Im just bringing together a new sound treatment also whereby you have the large 24-inch mother drum playing into you, and then crystal singing bowls are interspersed to bring harmony and balance. I did this last year using a gong, and the effects were deep and profound!

Hi Everyone I hope everyone can enjoy the sun today. Some new drum news, I've been building a healing drum circle up in Redruth we've been going almost a year now and I'm opening the circle out to new people and the wider community once a month with the gentle aim to spread this out into different areas through the year. It's a wonderful and interesting space to learn about Sound healing, shamanic drum work, journeying and building connections and containers for healing and growth.

I'm trained through the college of sound healing and the lineage of Wallace Black Elk so the circle is based on those principles. The evening is based on different rounds, we gather and have an opening share, we smudge and sing, then sing and drum to open the medicine wheel and draw forward the spirits and energies of the directions, give thanks to Grandmother earth and Grandfather sky and Great Spirit, then. creative drum round followed by healing where you sit by the big drum and the group drums for your healing (a profound experience) then we may journey or send energy our to the world around us.

The aim of the group is container building for personal and group healing and growth.

The cost is £10 per person, I have 10 drums for people to use plus rattles so numbers can be dependent on if people have there own drum but I feel we will limit the group to 15 at the moment due to space.

Just setting up for my first Shiatsu of 2025, it feels good to get the room ready, the mats down and make everything feel fresh and safe for my clients. Shiatsu is a beautiful art, yes it's a type of massage but it also isn't, it's a bit like having yoga done to you, but also not, it's based in acupuncture theories but isn't like acupuncture at all, I'd say it's most likely having Chi Gong given to you, but not many people know what that's like!

I've struggled to explain Shiatsu to people over the years, my usual way is to get them to lay down and feel how it feels, It relies on palming a lot so lots of deep, supportive pressure, interspersed with movement, a balance of yin and yang, it can be really energising with lots of movements, stretching and vigorous pressure and it can also be very still, just holding, or resting a palm on a place that's hurting. I called it an art at the beginning of this, and it really is, its like getting a Dan grade in karate, it takes years of practice, every session is different, it explores us as physical, emotional and spiritual beings.

I remember one of my teachers saying that after 30 years of Shiatsu practice he'd boiled it down to one word......communication, and I believe this to be true, it opens us up to be able to hear and learn the language of our bodies, to hear the hurt, or the tiredness, our depression or anxiety and begin to speak to it, importantly, its done with another human being, its an honour to be able to work with someone, to listen to them and give them space to be and feel.....one that I hope I can carry on practicing for many, many more years!!

I hope to run some small introduction courses this year also to you to can learn the gentle beginnings of this beautiful practice 🙏🙏🙏

We're just slipping (or plunging 🤣) into the deep, watery depths of winter, this should be a time for slowing down, going within, and restoration. In 5 element theory the water element is our deepest energies, our battery packs, our will and drive. Like water it's powerful and has great force but if used constantly can lead to burnout, anxiety and a loss of engagement or will to do. Stress, trauma and burning the candle at both ends deeply affect the water element of our constitution and its important its cared for.

This is a super time of year for some Shiatsu or energy work, helping us to stop, settle and hear what our bodies need the most. These practices are deeply restorative for our bodies and minds and can help us to reset and bring awareness into what's going on for us.

Availability up till Christmas is, 9am on the 14th, after 1pm on the 17th and 9am on the 21st, I may do a couple in the morning of the 24th if needed. I'm then back on the 2nd of January.

We will also be running regular drum circles next year (these are great fun and really powerful to experience) drum birthing, reiki training and Shiatsu introduction weekends.

So I've been a little social media silent for a while now due to one thing and another. I'd like to start bringing a little bit of back into it and start sharing a few bits and bobs.

One of the big things I'm learning about this year is boundaries, for me I have always had a rather chaotic relationship with my boundaries around time and energy, work and family, myself and other people. In Shiatsu this is linked to our metal element and it's associated organs the lung and large intestines, what we breathe in and out, what we allow in and what we let go of. Trauma can affect this balance badly. Shiatsu helps us to either release tension or bring energy/awareness into the affected channels and along with gentle exercise and recommendations for life changes we can helps to gain our sense of selves again. We are just moving from Earth (late summer into autumn) into Metal (when it's start to get cold and crisp) so if things feel more challenging now this could be something to look at.

I've adapted my hours going forward somewhat so my energy is better for myself, my family and my clients this means I'll be working on Mondays, Tuesdays and every other Saturday, spaces are available on the 28th, 30th, December 14th, 16th, 21st and 23rd, so not a lot of time available unfortunately but we have some family trips away. 5hings will free up more in the new year.
