Health leaders across Surrey are urging the public to use NHS services responsibly ahead of planned industrial action by resident doctors, taking place from Friday 25 to Wednesday 30 July 2025.
During this period, local NHS services are expected to face additional pressures.
We are asking for your support in helping us protect urgent and emergency care for those who need it most.
Here are some ways you and your family can get help from your local NHS during industrial action:
๐น Use NHS 111 online or by phone (111) for medical advice.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can direct you to the right service based on your needs โ including GP appointments, urgent treatment centres, and out-of-hours support.
๐น Community pharmacies.
Pharmacists can help with minor illnesses and symptoms such as coughs, colds, sore throats, and more. Many offer private consultation rooms and expert advice without an appointment.
๐น Local urgent care services.
Minor Injury Units, Walk-in Centres and Urgent Treatment Centres can help with urgent but non-life-threatening issues like sprains, bites, burns, wounds and more, often with shorter waiting times than A&E. No appointment needed. Check local service details for opening hours.
We want to reassure the public that the NHS remains open during industrial action.
If you or someone in your care needs medical support, please donโt delay in seeking help.
It's important people still come forward when they need care. We are here for you.
