If you're over 50 and experiencing stiffness or weight gain, you can take charge of your health! Explore why strength training is crucial for everyone over 50 in our latest blog post: https://wix.to/bSzYkAs

If you’re over 50 and starting to feel your body slowing down, more stiffness, slower metabolism, weight gain that doesn’t budge, you’re not imagining it. But you’re also not powerless.

Lift weights like your life (and brain) depends on it

A massive new real-world study — tracking over 1.3 million adults — just underscored how crucial muscle mass is for metabolic health. Researchers examined predicted lean body mass index (LBMI), an easy-to-calc clinical metric, and found a striking pattern: lower LBMI consistently predicted higher diabetes risk in both men and women.

Compared to those in the highest LBMI quartile, men in the lowest quartile had a 27% higher risk of developing diabetes, while women had a 10% higher risk — even after adjusting for confounders.

Using flexible spline models, the relationship was crystal clear: as LBMI drops, diabetes risk climbs. The big takeaway? Muscle isn’t just for aesthetics — it's a metabolic organ, and maintaining lean mass may be one of the most powerful (and underrated) levers we have for diabetes prevention, which as you know from following me, is one of the best ways to protect your brain as well!
