Ending the weekend with some laminating. If you need any symbols making up don’t forget to give me at least 48 hours notice before your session to get them done.

There’s lots of road closures locally at the moment, may be worth checking routes to see if you need to allow extra time to get to your sessions.

After the last 2 clients enjoyed a visit from Luna I’ve done some emergency DIY to the back of the barrier so she can’t push out toy boxes to join in sessions anymore 🤣🐾

There are no words to describe what Sarah meant to the SLT community. I only worked for her for a few years before having Isaac and starting off on my own locally. She inspired me in ways I never imagined and made me the therapist I am today.

She will be missed by so many people. Taken too soon xx

IN LOVING MEMORY

It’s with great sadness that we share the heart-breaking news that Sarah Buckley, ASLTIP Chair, has passed away after a short illness.

Sarah’s authentic leadership style meant we all felt deeply connected with her as a human being. She inspired us, and brought energy and ideas to every interaction.

She had already made a profound impact on ASLTIP, with many strategic plans underway. As an Executive Board, we will continue to carry out her vision and further develop the organisation.

But – oh, how deeply we will miss her.

Sarah truly understood that ASLTIP is a community, and she made it her mission to connect with as many members as possible each month. She was a shining light in this community, and we know her loss will be felt far and wide.

Our thoughts and love are with her beloved husband and soulmate, Rob. We vow to celebrate the remarkable person Sarah was, to carry her light forward through ASLTIP, and to honour her memory always.

We've opened a thread on our forum so members can share their thoughts, and will let you know soon about other ways to honour Sarah.

I hope everyone is having a good first week back at their schools and all the children starting new schools and nurseries have a smooth transition.

Remember to try and keep your questions to a minimum when they come out. Give them a snack and allow them time to open up and tell you. This may come much later on in the evening once they’ve had a chance to process it all themselves.

When you do ask questions try to start with more closed questions such as ‘did you have a good time?’ ‘Is your teacher nice?’ ‘Did you play with (name)’ (if you know a friend is in the same class). These will be easier to process and respond to than more open questions such as ‘what did you do today?’ ‘What was for lunch?’ ‘What toys did they have out?’.

And just like that the summer holidays are over…. Safeguarding training tomorrow and then final preparations for getting my two back to school and me full swing back to seeing lovely clients! Apologies if there’s some puppy crying from the front room whilst Luna settles into hearing people but not seeing people…. She’s a quick learner so hopefully it won’t take her long to settle down! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 anyone else been looking forward to the return to school but now it’s here slightly missing the more relaxed pace of the holidays?!

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer holidays. I’m back from my holiday and catching up on some admin over the next few days that I didn’t get out before my break.
Would also like to introduce the newest member of King Speech Therapy…. Luna! It’s safe to say she already has a favourite and it’s not me! 🤣🤣
