Far from buying my little daughter a proper ice cream, I'd given her what one scientist later memorably described to me as 'an industrially produced edible substance'.

Happy New Year. With the new lockdown announcement I am sure some of you are feeling a bit deflated going into 2021. Many people start January embarking on a diet in order to loose a few pounds and feel better. In times like this I would say be kind to yourself and your body and instead of a strict diet, which rarely work long term, use this time to make simple changes that can benefit the whole family and are sustainable. A good place to start is filling your fridge and cupboards with nutritious wholesome foods. Use this list as a guide and enjoy.

Having recently worked with a lady with morning sickness this recipe really did help:

MORNING SICKNESS REMEDY JUICE
4 sticks of celery

1/2 cup of pineapple

1/2 cup of parsley

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

2cm k**b of ginger (to taste)

*use organic ingredients if possible

Why is this juice great for morning sickness?

Morning sickness and nausea in pregnancy are common complaints during the first trimester and, for some women, continue throughout their entire pregnancy.
Ginger has a long history of use for nausea and clinical trials have shown that it significantly improved the symptoms of nausea, but not vomiting, in pregnancy. Ginger also has a great safety profile, making in a relevant choice.
Nausea can be exacerbated by skipping meals or poor blood sugar management, so including a tummy-settling juice alongside a handful of nuts can help.
Hydration is particularly important during pregnancy and can be compromised by morning sickness. This juice is a great way to hydrate yourself alongside ginger teas and plenty of filtered water. (recipe taken from Awaken Your Health)
