✨ Facilitator Friday ✨

Today we are introducing our lovely Julie, one of our Guildford facilitators.

Julie first joined Grow and Glow after being encouraged to attend by Blair at Men’s Pit Stop and Andy’s Man Club. From the moment she stepped into the circle she brought warmth, care, and kindness, and she is now an important part of our Guildford team. 🫶🏻

Here is what she shared about her experience.

Hi, I am Julie and I am one of the facilitators at our Guildford Grow and Glow group.

I first joined after being encouraged to attend by Blair at Men’s Pit Stop and Andy’s Man Club. I felt nervous walking in for the first time but I was met with warmth and understanding and I soon felt a sense of belonging.

I quickly came to love our weekly meets. I love thinking of others, whether it is turning up with little thoughtful gifts or being there with a shoulder to cry on when someone needs it. The support we share each week has meant so much to me.

I also wanted to help create a space where women can be heard and feel supported. When I was asked if I would like to become a facilitator I felt grateful for the chance to give something back to the group that helped me so much.

Grow and Glow has become a special part of my life and I am proud to help hold a space where women feel understood, valued, and supported. 🫶🏻

✨ Facilitator Friday ✨

Today we are introducing our lovely Izzy, one of our Guildford facilitators. Izzy brings so much strength, compassion, and understanding to our team, shaped by her own powerful experiences. She reached out because she wanted to help create the kind of support she needed during her own hardest moments, and we are so grateful to have her with us. 🫶🏻

Here is what she shared about her journey.

Hi, I am Izzy and I am a facilitator for Grow and Glow.

I struggled with my mental health from a really young age and hit rock bottom in 2022 when Anorexia took over and I nearly lost my life. I spent the next year and a half in hospital and daycare, slowly trying to rebuild. Recovery has not been easy or straightforward, but I have come a long way and I am now training to become a therapist which is something I never thought I would be able to say.

I know how it feels to be in such a dark place that giving up seems like the only option. I know what it is like to feel completely alone, like no one understands. But having come through that, I also know that things can get better.

There are still difficult days, but there is so much I get to experience now that I never thought I would again. I am currently working through my bucket list, because younger me never thought she would make it to 24 and that makes me feel really proud. 🫶🏻

I reached out to Charley because I wanted to be part of something that offered the support I wish I had during my hardest times, something that did not need a referral or involve long waiting lists. I feel grateful to now be supporting other women through their own experiences while continuing to grow myself.

📣ANNOUNCEMENT 📣
✨ Grow and Glow is coming to the North ✨

This feels huge for our community. Every Grow and Glow group so far has been in Surrey and today I am so proud to share that we are opening our first northern group in Wilmslow in Cheshire.

Our Wilmslow group will launch on Tuesday 7 January at Wilmslow Fire Station and I cannot wait to welcome the women of the North West into our circle.

A big thank you to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service for allowing us to use their community room. Your support means so much and helps us create a space that feels welcoming and supportive for every woman who walks through the door.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Your support has helped Grow and Glow reach even more women and I am so excited for this next chapter.

✨ Facilitator Friday ✨

Today we are celebrating another amazing member of our Reigate Grow and Glow team. I would love to introduce you to Karen, our Co Facilitator.

Karen has been attending our Reigate group since we opened in January 2025 and she is now an important part of our facilitator team. 🫶🏻

Here is what she shared about her experience.

Hi, I am Karen.

I have lived with general anxieties for most of my life. I experienced significant post natal depression in 2003 after having my first child and needed specialist birth trauma counselling.

In November 2023 I was involved in a vehicle accident. It caused ongoing medical problems and also created a lot of mental health challenges. I would relive the experience of the accident every day, sometimes more than once, and any small trigger could set it off.

My mental health continued to decline and I was soon diagnosed with depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I was placed on the waiting list for one to one PTSD counselling.

After a psychology assessment, I reached one of my lowest points. I had to admit to holding thoughts about ending my life. After the appointment I told my partner that I wanted to be sectioned. I wanted to shut myself away from the world.

I knew I had to do something for myself. That was when I saw the post about Grow and Glow opening in Reigate. It felt like the exact thing I needed. A women’s mental health group.

I have been attending Reigate Grow and Glow since January 2025. I look forward to our weekly meets. I enjoy the camaraderie and the support we give one another. We share tears and laughter. I feel safe. I feel like I belong.

I love being part of the group so much that I am now one of the facilitators. I want to help other women feel heard and feel safe too. 🫶🏻

✨ Facilitator Friday ✨

To kick off our Facilitator Friday posts, where we will be introducing the faces behind our Grow and Glow sessions, I would love to introduce you to Tasha.

Tasha has been attending our groups since we first launched in May 2024 in Epsom. She is now a huge part of our team and opened our Reigate Grow and Glow group in January 2025. 🫶🏻

Here is what she shared:

Hi! I am Tasha, Lead Facilitator at Reigate. Here is a bit about me.

In June 2024, I was planning to take my life. Someone close to me noticed the signs and I got help in time. Soon after, I began attending Grow and Glow.

I have struggled with depression since I was about 12, through many different life experiences. By 2024, things had become the worst they had ever been. I had planned my own funeral and written goodbye letters to those who mattered to me.

Walking through the doors of Grow and Glow for the first time was one of the hardest things I have ever done. It was scary walking in alone, not knowing who would be on the other side or how I would be welcomed. But it was the best decision I have ever made.

I attended every week and never wanted to miss a session. For the first few weeks I sat quietly, barely making eye contact, before slowly opening up about what brought me there. I was welcomed by everyone and it was a breath of fresh air to find people who understood and cared.

Eventually I went on to help at Epsom, then joined the facilitator team, and now I am the Lead Facilitator at Reigate. I have grown so much as a person since joining.

The best part is being part of a community that supports women week after week. We are more than just a group. We are family, friends, and peers. 🫶🏻
