Care Creates… Fair Pay, Fair Work, Fair Care.

Across Scotland, social care is powered by people, from those just beginning their careers to experienced leaders guiding teams through the most important moments in people’s lives.

This week’s Care Creates stories shine a light on the individuals and teams who make care personal, compassionate and meaningful every day. They show how care is created through connection, creativity, recognition and trust.

Together, these stories reflect the breadth of Scotland’s social care workforce and the shared commitment to people at the heart of care.

Voices of Care: What Care Means to Me 💜

Care is one of the most powerful forces in our society. It is the thread that connects families, strengthens communities, and supports people to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.

For many carers, both paid professionals and those who care for loved ones at home, “care” is more than a job or responsibility. It is a deeply personal experience, shaped by compassion, resilience, and the desire to make a difference.

As part of our Voices of Care series, we’re shining a light on what care truly means to the people who give and receive it every day.

💬 What is Care Creates… and why it matters now

Care Creates… is a sector‑wide campaign led by Scottish Care, highlighting the vital role social care plays in supporting well-being, independence, fair work and strong communities across Scotland.

As we approach the upcoming elections, the campaign is helping to ensure that care is firmly part of the national conversation, showing decision‑makers, communities and candidates why funding care like it matters is essential for Scotland’s future.

Last weeks theme was 'Funding': investing in care like it matters, challenges the idea of social care as a cost, and instead positions it as essential infrastructure that delivers long‑term social and economic value.

Care Stories show what that looks like in practice:
- Investment in technology that supports well-being and connection
- Employee‑owned models delivering fair work and local economic value
- Long‑term capital investment creating future‑ready care environments

🔗 Read and share the stories, blog and full toolkit here:

Every story helps show what’s possible when care is funded like it matters, especially at a time when Scotland is considering its priorities for the future.

The Virtual Village Hall 🏡

Brought to you by our charity partner, Royal Voluntary Service, the Virtual Village Hall is a free, online activity hub and community. It has been designed to help people stay physically and mentally active, connected and having fun. No sign in or subscription required.

There are live activity sessions every weekday on Facebook and YouTube such as exercise, dance, crafts, music, books, writing, gardening and more. We encourage any of our colleagues and/or service users to get involved, there is something for everyone!

One of the Virtual Villagers said:
"“I think the VVH is a godsend. It has helped me prepare for surgery and accompanied me as I heal. It has helped me manage physical ailments … It is creative and exciting (I now do burlesque and have been introduced to the stunning beauty of harp meditations) and this has opened up my rather limited world as I don’t go out too much.
The VVH hosts and the class tutors are all fantastic and create such a warm, welcoming environment, I feel part of something even though I’ve never met you. I can’t believe I didn’t discover you earlier, but now I have, I feel more hopeful for an active, accompanied future. I can’t thank you enough.”
