Care Home Worker from is Shortlisted for a National Care Award 🏆🤩
A deputy care home manager known for being able to “talk the socks off anyone” says she was left speechless after being named a finalist in this year’s Wales Care Awards.
Julie Inch, 59, deputy manager and clinical lead at Hallmark Tŷ Porth in , Rhondda Cynon Taff, has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Palliative and End of Life Care category.
With more than four decades of experience in the care sector, Julie has risen from junior care assistant in her teens to a respected nurse and leader, admired by her colleagues for her compassion and dedication.
“When I found out I’d been shortlisted, I was so humbled that, for once, I was genuinely lost for words,” she said. “I love nursing — working in a care home is the best job in the world for me.”
Her nomination came from colleagues who describe her as a role model and a nurse who “sets the bar high”. Business support manager Leah Howells said Julie’s ethos is simple but powerful: “If it’s not good enough for my dad, then it’s not good enough here.”
Julie, who lives in Aberdare, has three grown-up sons and four grandchildren. Nursing runs in her family, and she says caring for others is “instinctive”.
She will now attend a glittering awards ceremony at Cardiff’s Holland House Hotel on 17 October, where winners will be announced across 20 categories.
The Wales Care Awards, organised by Care Forum Wales, honour the dedication of care professionals across the nation.
Chair Mario Kreft MBE said: “Every single one of our finalists is a winner. Social care is the glue that binds our communities together.”
