Happy ‘Heavenly’ Birthday Shani. 🎈
You are so missed 🙏🏼 But your light still shines in our hearts. ♥️

Shani always bought such beautiful energy to every gathering & event. And this workshop was no exception. The writing on the wall serving as an important reminder to ‘Live in the Moment’ 🙏🏼

This week is * Mental Health Awareness Week *

And I’ve been reflecting on the importance of slowing down, connecting with nature, and creating space for stillness and rest.

Recently I have found myself super busy juggling various jobs & responsibilities. To counter this and prevent a sense of overwhelm, I have made sure to carve out some time each day for my own wellbeing - to take my yoga practice outside, to walk, to garden, to spend time in nature, to be near water and to take time for rest & reflection.

What do you do to support your own mental health & wellbeing?

I will be teaching a special class this Saturday to mark ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’.

Hatha yoga & Slow flow 🧘🏻‍♀️

Most people’s reasons for loving or hating their feet 🦶🏼are based solely on their appearance! But what we should be focusing on is their function.

The feet are a part of the body which can often be overlooked and taken very much for granted.  And yet they are arguably one of the most important parts of the body, as they bear our entire body weight and enable us to move in a wide range of ways. They are literally our foundations!

Did you know…

* The human foot comprises of 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, tendons & ligaments. 🦶🏼
* Each foot contains over 200,000 nerve endings which provide us with sensory information about terrain, temperature & texture. They are consequently very sensitive.

So next time you look down at your feet🦶🏼…instead of feeling dismayed at those perceived physical flaws …look in awe and wonder at them 💫 and fully appreciate the way they carry you every day and the many ways they help you to move. ☺️

I shared some exciting news in my stories last weekend about a training course that I attended with the lovely Payal .

It was a 2 day CPD course on ‘Anatomy & Physiology for yoga’ with Andrew McGonigle aka Doctor Yogi, a recognised expert in his field.

The course was amazing and we delved deep into the many layers of anatomy. I am still buzzing from everything I learnt and I keep going back over the extensive course content and my notes.

There were so many ‘light bulb’ moments for me and I hope to share some of these and some of the things that I have learnt in my yoga classes over the next few weeks and months.

A huge thank you to Andrew McGonigle for sharing your vast knowledge with all of us.

Yesterday we said a sad goodbye to Shani 🙏🏼

Like most people, I have been struggling to process her passing. She was such a beautiful, kind soul and shining light who was taken too suddenly and far too young. 😢

I have also struggled to find the right words, and so once more I find myself returning to the beautiful, comforting words of Kahlil Gibran in ‘The Prophet’

“For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.”

Kahlil Gibran

Shani bought many of the Chi Kri Yoga family back together yesterday ♥️ She would have liked that. 🤗
We just wish it hadn’t been this way. 😢

Rest peacefully now dearest Shani 🙏🏼✨
(Sing, dance, climb and of course lots of yoga) 🧘🏻‍♀️💫✨

I taught two very special classes in my Garden studio this weekend. Friday evening, with its low lighting and soft dancing shadows, held a calm soothing energy and Saturday a brighter, more uplifting vibe. But both classes were tinged with a deep sadness.

The theme for the classes was simply ‘The breath’ as we moved the body slowly and mindfully with the breath. We started in a relaxing and nourishing Savasana and finished with a longer, deeper Chi Kri ‘Breath observation Meditation’. Everyone experienced an incredible stillness as we removed our mind from the constant mental chatter and focused our concentration on the breath.

This theme had inadvertently become more poignant as minutes before Fridays class, I discovered the devastating news that a recent beloved Chi Kri Yoga graduate and previous attendee of one of my classes and workshops had taken her last breath that morning.
Everyone shared the burden of my sadness, particularly those who knew her but we all took a moment to hold her beautiful soul close in our hearts as we wished her a safe onward journey.

Rest peacefully now dearest Shani … I will miss you 🙏🏼♥️✨
