Women are not designed to function the same way every single day - and get so many of us have spent years trying to live that way.
Men’s hormones generally operate on a 24-hour cycle, meaning their hormonal rhythm resets daily. Women, however, operate on an approximately monthly cycle, with shifts in oestrogen and progesterone influencing our energy, focus, emotions, motivation, communication, and even how social or inward we may feel.
Once I understood this, I stopped figuring my body and started working with it instead.
I now plan my life around my cycle:
🩸Resting and restoring during my bleed
🌸Planning, creating, and taking action in my Follicular phase
🍒Showing up socially and professionally around ovulation
🍁Becoming more intentional and protective of my energy in my Luteal phase
And the difference has been profound.
I genuinely feel like I get more done this way - not less.
Because I’m no longer forcing high output during phases where my body is asking for slowness and restoration.
The advantages of living cyclically can be huge:
✨Better energy management
✨Less burnout and overwhelm
✨Improved self-awareness
✨Better boundaries
✨More aligned productivity
✨Deeper connection with yourself
✨Reduced guilt around needing rest
✨Greater appreciation for the strengths within each phase
Instead of constantly pushing, there’s more flow, rhythm, and sustainability.
There’s also something deeper happening physiologically. As women move toward menopause and the ovaries gradually reduce oestrogen production, the adrenal glands help take over part of that role - although at a much lower output. Supporting the body, reducing chronic stress, and living in a way that honours our hormonal rhythms may become increasingly important for long-term wellbeing.
Your cycle is not an inconvenience.
It’s information.
And when you learn how to listen to it, everything can begin to change🤍
