What is it that draws a person to want to work with others who are suffering with mental health? It’s not exactly an easy path to go down. What is it that drives a person to do anything that they are truly passionate about?
It’s usually to do with a personal connection, would you not agree? An experience (or several) ...something that can be related to, plus a deep desire to want to bring about change - either because it is something that we have always wanted to do, or it is something that we desperately want to get away from, so that we can have different results.
It is often noted that those who rise to great heights or make the biggest differences in the world, are usually inspired to do so through their own adversities. And so, it is in this context that Susanne started on her own road of transformation because 18 years ago her young son's life-threatening condition of asthma was reaching very worrying levels. With emergency visits to the hospital becoming more frequent and frightening, she was almost desperate to find other ways to help him overcome this condition and the initial help came in the form of a liquid nutritional product, recommended by a friend.
This is what took Susanne on her journey into nutrition and energy medicine to dramatically change the health of her son. Later on she went into the world of personal development, which helped her further in her own life and through the dark tunnels of many more adverse situations that came her way ...to the light again, with greater resilience and confidence.
These experiences along with her studies and qualifications propelled her into helping many others shift their lives from a place of “too sick and tired” and “too stressed and anxious” to a place of health, vitality, calm and empowerment. In the early days, Susanne worked mostly with individuals on a one-to-one basis but in the past few years she has also very successfully been running workplace programmes, workshops and seminars in both the public and private sector.
What large organisation these days doesn’t have employees under enormous pressure? Whether it’s to do with meeting targets, customer service or managers having to re-organise departments and therefore bring about much resisted change...stress and mental ‘un’-wellness has almost become a norm...only now at record levels that can no longer be brushed under the carpet!!
Thinking about those working in the Public Sector...we have so many examples of exhausted and stressed out teachers, nurses, policeman...the list is almost endless. It’s more important than ever therefore to really ‘hit that pause button’ in order to breathe deeply, take stock, and get back into
vibrant health
empowerment and
clarity of mind
This is where Susanne comes into her element and rejoices at the positive impact her mindfulness, resilience and empowerment programmes have – not only on individual staff but on the overall well-being of the establishments themselves! This reaches much further than one might at first think but consider the positive impact on students in college, pupils in schools, patients in hospitals and the general public being served.
What makes Susanne’s delivery different from other training programmes in these subjects? The combination and flow of the different modalities she uses and her sunny, committed disposition. She takes you through an experiential learning process – not just a training. She delivers with intuitive insight and empathy and her tenacious and determined nature assures you that she will see to it that you get what you came for, and more!
With many years of working within a corporate environment too, including coordinating executive education programmes at Ashridge Business school, where she also facilitated in some, Susanne has insight and experience in both the corporate and entrepreneurial world.
Past and present organisational clients include Watford Borough Council; Watford Workshop - a charity employing disabled and disadvantaged people; Wesser - a fund-raising organisation for St. John's Ambulance and also Carlsberg UK - helping them to instil better health and wellness within the organisation as well as find work/life balance.
Susanne still works with a wide range of private individuals as an empowerment and resilience coach, stress and anxiety specialist, health and well-being mentor and as therapist in Reiki Healing, Bio-energetics and Food-sensitivity Testing.
Recently, she has undertaken additional training by becoming a Mental Health First Aider - to be able to work with children and young people. Her longer term vision is to bring her programmes into schools for both teachers and pupils!
