Our Care Manager, Kat, recently shared an incident where a client's gardener attempted to forge a signature and withdraw money from their chequebook. Thanks to the vigilance of our Care Professional, the situation was stopped before any harm was done.

Keeping our clients safe goes beyond personal care. We stay alert to the scams and financial exploitation that often target older adults, intervening whenever we can to protect those we support.

It's these everyday acts of protection that allow our clients to feel truly safe and happy in their own homes. 💚

It’s , and our Care Manager, Kat, is sharing some helpful safety tips for older adults:

✔️ If someone comes to your doorstep and you feel unsure or unsafe, you can always call the police. Your wellbeing comes first.
✔️ A video doorbell (such as Ring) can offer extra peace of mind, and trusted family members can also keep an eye on who’s visiting.
✔️ Trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, you’re under no obligation to continue the conversation.

Home Instead Lewes District and Uckfield launch campaign to bring Christmas cheer to local older people

This week is , and our Care Manager, Kat, is highlighting an important story about a potential scam visit, thankfully prevented by the quick thinking of one of our Live-In Care Professionals.

Sadly, older people are often more vulnerable to scams, especially those living alone. As we approach the festive season, when scam activity typically increases, we’re encouraging all our clients and Care Professionals to stay alert and informed.

At Home Instead Lewes District & Uckfield, our Care Professionals receive training to recognise the signs of scams and take action when something doesn’t feel right. Together, we can help keep our community safer.

This festive season, we're on a mission to ensure no older person in our community feels forgotten at Christmas.

We're asking for your help to bring joy to those who may be lonely or might not receive a gift this year. It's incredibly simple to get involved, just drop an unwrapped gift into one of our collection boxes, and our volunteers will take care of the rest! 💚

With collection points across Lewes District and Uckfield running throughout November and into December, there's plenty of time to Be a Santa.

Remember, Remember…. safety this Bonfire Night! 🎆

As fireworks light up the sky tonight, the noise and cold can cause unexpected distress for many older people in our community. This year, help keep your loved ones comfortable and secure by taking these simple steps:

- Muffle the noise: Close windows and draw curtains before it gets dark to minimise the startling bangs and flashes
- Stay warm: Ensure warm clothes are layered up, and hot, comfortable drinks are on hand
- Offer comfort: Provide reassuring company or a distracting activity if the noise causes anxiety, especially for those with dementia.
