Colten Care were delighted to host a Volunteers Celebration for the Fundraising Team at Forest Holme Hospice Charity at Bourne View Care Home on Wednesday 🌿💛

The event celebrated the most amazing people who go above and beyond, day in and day out, to support the Hospice and its vital fundraising efforts.

We were honoured to welcome Jeff Mostyn, who gave an inspirational talk that perfectly captured just why volunteers are such an incredible asset to the hospice team.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Hospitality team who, led by Lorna Parsons, delivered an exceptional afternoon tea, and to Claire Manners for her beautiful saxophone performance that set the perfect tone for the afternoon.

It was truly a privilege to host this event and to continue supporting Forest Holme Hospice and their incredible team once again.

Residents and staff at our Castle View Care Home in Poundbury marked their Harvest Festival in the true spirit of giving — donating their entire collection of food to Dorchester Foodbank and Food Share to support local families in need.

The colourful display of pumpkins, apples, bread, and seasonal vegetables was gathered for the home’s traditional harvest service before being shared with the community. Within just 24 hours, much of the produce had already reached families across Poundbury and Dorchester.

Liz Meech from Food Share described the donation as “a lovely act of kindness”, adding that it helped reduce how much food needed to be bought for emergency parcels.

Castle View's Companionship Team Leader, Hayley, said: “It felt wonderful to give direct, practical support to our community. Our residents have been so creative and generous, and this was a lovely way to give back.”

Residents and staff from Fernhill Dementia Care Home recently joined the Ferndown Memory Walk to support the Ferndown dementia friendly town initiative.

Walking alongside local businesses, fellow care providers, and community members, the team helped raise awareness of dementia and celebrate a truly inclusive community.

Home Manager Lorraine Bell said: “Being part of this was a special experience. It was a powerful show of unity.”

We are incredibly proud to announce Braemar Lodge Care Home has been awarded Veteran-Friendly status under the national Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF).

This recognition reflects its commitment to supporting residents who have served in the armed forces, as well as their families, through tailored activities, care, and community partnerships.

Braemar's Companionship Team Leader, Graham, a former Staff Sergeant in the Royal Horse Artillery, said: “We are deeply honoured to have been accepted onto the VFF. Our support for residents who have been in the armed forces stems from a profound respect for their dedication and sacrifice, extending to their families as well.”

🎂☕ Golden Cupcakes for Macmillan! 💚✨

Our 21 Colten Care homes and our support centre Colten House added a W***y Wonka-style twist to this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning – complete with Golden Cupcakes hidden among trays of homemade cakes, cookies and pastries! 🍰🌟

The lucky residents who found a golden treat won a bottle of bubbly 🥂 — and even luckier, the event raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping people living with cancer. 💚

Thank you to our incredible residents, team members, families and local communities for supporting such a meaningful cause.

The sights and sounds of the Sixties came alive at The Aldbury Dementia Care Home in Poole, as residents, families, friends, and team members embraced a vibrant Summer-of-Love-themed party.

From colourful hippy fashion to tie-dye and flower power, the celebrations were full of fun – including a visiting bubbleologist, balloon art, and even Home Manager Martin bravely taking a turn in ‘the stocks’ for a sponge-throwing challenge!

We recently came together at The Colten Champions 2025 to shine an even brighter spotlight on what makes Colten truly special: our incredible people.

From first steps on their journey to every moment residents spend with us, each member of our team plays a vital part. Over the past year, lives have been touched and transformed thanks to their dedication.

On Thursday night, more than 150 team members gathered at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel in Bournemouth for a glittering black-tie celebration. Out of over 1,000 nominations, 39 remarkable finalists were recognised — and 15 deserving winners were crowned.

Huge congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and, of course, to the amazing winners. They are the stars of the show!

Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst recently welcomed more than 60 visitors for an Open Garden Weekend in support of the National Garden Scheme (NGS), raising an impressive £700 for nursing and health charities.

Guests explored the tranquil setting in the heart of the New Forest, featuring colourful borders of dahlias, crocosmias and rudbeckias, cherry trees, a bug house, an orchard, and a wheelchair-friendly woodland trail with countryside views.

Companionship Team Leader Jane reflected: “Opening our garden to the public allows others to share the beautiful setting we are privileged to enjoy every day.”

Visitor Beccy summed it up perfectly: “What a beautiful garden, and what a wonderful home. Somewhere I would definitely consider for my parents.”

At Braemar Lodge in Salisbury, we were deeply privileged to celebrate the 100th birthday of Commander Douglas Parish, a Royal Navy veteran who served at the D-Day landings.

Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow naval officers, Douglas marked the occasion in true naval tradition — cutting his birthday cake with his sword and receiving special messages and gifts from senior figures in the Royal Navy.

Douglas’s remarkable life of service, faith, and family continues to inspire all who know him. It was a day of pride, reflection, and joy — and a true honour for our team to share in this milestone.
