We’re delighted to share that Colten Care has once again been recognised among the UK’s Top 20 care home groups of its size on carehome.co.uk, marking an eleventh consecutive year in this position 🌟

This achievement is especially meaningful as it is shaped entirely by independent reviews from residents, families, and friends. Their feedback reflects lived experience across our homes and the confidence placed in the care and daily life our teams provide.

It’s also a moment to celebrate the teams across our homes, whose consistency, kindness, and professionalism make a real difference day to day. Three of our homes have also been recognised in their individual categories – Bourne View, Wellington Grange, and Newstone House – a reflection of the high standards upheld locally and across the wider group.

At Colten Care, we’re proud to see this kind of feedback, and even prouder of the people behind it: teams who bring together expertise and genuine warmth to support residents to live comfortably, confidently, and with dignity.

Well done to residents and team members at Braemar Lodge Care Home in Salisbury, who recently joined the UK’s Great British Spring Clean, contributing to Keep Britain Tidy’s nationwide campaign with a thoughtful morning spent in and around Victoria Park.

Together, they collected four bags of litter, making a tangible difference to the local environment and showing what can be achieved through shared effort ♻️🌟

💙 Our homes are proud to support Denim for Dementia Day 💙

Across Colten Care, our residents and teams have been coming together in fun and creative ways to support local charities and Alzheimer's Society. Some homes have been crafting handmade denim goods, others spent the day donning denim, hosted quizzes, or enjoyed refreshments with guests.

These activities help raise funds for important causes, particularly supporting people living well with dementia, while bringing our communities closer together 💙

Linden House Dementia Care Home recently hosted its first-ever Shine a Light on Dementia event, welcoming friends, families, and the local community to explore, learn, and connect 🌟

Over three days, visitors enjoyed reflective garden displays, homemade decorations created by our residents, team, local schools, and community groups, delicious refreshments, and professional insights into living well with dementia, including the opportunity to speak to Colten Care's Admiral Nurse. The event also offered a thoughtful gift to take home, making the experience even more special.

It was a meaningful way to raise awareness and celebrate the importance of understanding dementia 🩵

Twenty-five years of care, companionship and community.

Residents, families and team members at Abbotts Barton recently gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone, a quarter of a century serving the Wi******er community.

Home Manager Dee Lovewell, who has dedicated 20 of those years to the home, reflected on the 1,872 residents who have called Abbotts Barton home since opening in 2001.

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Wi******er, Cllr Sudhakar Achwal, who thanked the home for its continued contribution to local life.

With cream tea, celebration cake, music and dancing, the afternoon was filled with warmth and laughter – and a raffle in support of the of this year's chosen charity, Wi******er Hospice.

Here’s to the next 25 years!

There was laughter, applause and more than a little amazement at Fernhill Dementia Care Home recently, as resident Graham saw a long-held wish come to life ✨🪄

After sharing how much he had always enjoyed magic, the team arranged for magician Alistair Brien to perform at the home. The result was an afternoon full of clever illusions, quick wit, and genuine surprise, with residents watching closely as each trick unfolded.

Graham was captivated throughout and fellow residents, family members, and team members all joined in the fun. Afterwards, Graham’s daughter Sally shared how lovely it was to see her dad enjoying himself so much and thanked the team for bringing the idea to life.

Bourne View Care Home recently enjoyed a special day celebrating our local firefighters and the history of the home itself.

Members of the DWFireRescue Redhill Fire Crew joined residents for a relaxed afternoon tea, complete with homemade cakes from our chefs 🍰🫖, before heading outside to explore a modern fire engine and chat about how firefighting has changed over the years.

The visit carried an extra local connection, as residents discovered that a former fire station headquarters once stood on the site of Bourne View 🚒. With support from the Talbot Village Trust, residents enjoyed exploring photographs and memories from the area’s past, adding a meaningful layer to the day.

Colten Care is proud to continue to support Forest Holme Hospice Charity, helping to refresh the Ward staff room, The Bubble, and counselling spaces.

Thanks to the support of our Assistant Interior Designer, Juliana, these welcoming rooms are already making a real difference for staff, patients, and families during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Our home Bourne View Care Home has long enjoyed close ties with the hospice, from hosting volunteer lunches to enjoying live performances, and this project is another way our homes and teams bring comfort and care to the local community.

Belmore Lodge Care Home resident Paul recently marked his 103rd birthday with a return to the Royal Lymington Yacht Club - a place closely tied to his lifelong love of sailing.

The visit was thoughtfully arranged by the team following earlier conversations about Paul’s sailing days, including his former membership of the club and voyages around Europe, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. Accompanied by Companionship Team Leader Sharon, Home Manager Janie, and fellow sailing enthusiast and resident Louisa, Paul received a warm welcome on arrival.

Over fish and chips and a celebratory glass of wine, Paul and Louisa shared memories of maritime life, before the occasion was marked with a nautical-themed cake prepared by the home’s chef.

Our homes got into the Scottish spirit for Burns Night 🥂🎶

Residents and teams enjoyed afternoons filled with traditional music, poetry, dancing, quizzes, and of course, haggis and cake. From lively toe-tapping and sing-alongs to shared memories and laughter, it was a wonderful way to celebrate Scottish culture and bring people together.

We loved seeing everyone join in the fun and spirit of the occasion across all our homes.
