Fiona Terry Osteopathy Fiona Terry BSc(HONS)ost Ringwood. Mobile : 07598954749 Osteopath and Biodynamic Cranial Osteopath T. Still MD, DO in 1874.

I am an experienced, registered, insured and gentle Osteopath specialising in Biodynamic and Cranial Osteopathy. Osteopathy is the philosophy and system for the practice first proposed by A. It emphasizes the interrelationship between structure and function of the body and recognizes the body's ability to heal itself; it is the role of the osteopathic practitioner to facilitate that process. The osteopathic philosophy is defined as the concept of health care that embraces the concept of the unity of the living organism’s structure (anatomy) and function (physiology). These are the four major principles of osteopathy.
1.The body is a unit. An integrated unit of mind, body, and spirit (Triune of Man - A.T. Still).
2.The body possesses self-regulatory mechanisms, having the inherent capacity to defend, repair, and remodel itself.
3.Structure and function are reciprocally inter-related.
4.Rational therapy is based on consideration of the first three principles. These principles are not held by osteopathic physicians to be empirical laws; they serve, rather, as the underpinnings of the osteopathic philosophy on health and disease.

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that is based on several fundamental principles:

The body is a unit: Osteopaths believe that the body should be considered as a whole unit, with each part interrelated and affecting the other parts.

Structure and function are interrelated: Osteopaths believe that the structure of the body affects its function, and that changes in the structure of the body can lead to changes in its function.

The body has the ability to self-heal: Osteopaths believe that the body has the inherent ability to heal itself and that their role is to assist in this process by removing any obstacles that may be preventing it.

The body is in constant motion: Osteopaths believe that the body is in a state of constant movement and that this movement is essential to its health and well-being.

The body is adaptable: Osteopaths believe that the body is capable of adapting to various physical, emotional, and environmental stressors and that these adaptations can have both positive and negative effects on its overall health and function.

These principles are used by osteopaths to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions by manually manipulating the body to restore its normal structure and function.

Sage Sayings: "How is the body going to report to you unless you establish a listening post through which it can report. Your fulcrum point or points are your listening posts. Let the tissues tell you their story and you be quiet and listen." Rollin Becker, “Diagnostic Touch: Its Principles and Applications: Part II.”

"Osteopathy is about
finding the "health"
in the patient. This is
a direct perceptual skill:
it is not just the idea
of making the person
healthy. Finding the health
in the patient is the learned
art of directly perceiving
something other than
disease in the patient, a
skill that therapeutically
engages laws of healing
not recognized by orthodox
medicine." Dr Jealous. RIP wise mentor and colleague
