Meet Janine, the beautiful soul behind Liliths Empowerment & Reiki
I first met Janine at the December Bee Crafty Market Big Weekender last year, and she is one of the most caring, compassionate, lovely people you could wish to meet.
A little known fact is that I am a Cartomancer-come-Kitchen Witch, and around these parts it is so rare to meet anyone who understands the craft, so meeting Janine was like all my Yules & Ostaras had come at once!
Although Janine is now based in Ripon, she is indeed a Wetherby woman, here is her story;
"When people ask how Lilith’s Empowerment began, I always smile because it really started here in Wetherby, long before it was ever a business.
I moved to North Deighton when I was five, and the house we lived in had so much history tied to it. We were told it may once have been connected to the officers’ mess around the time of the Battle of Marston Moor, and there were plenty of local stories surrounding it. Growing up there, I experienced things I couldn’t explain at the time, footsteps in empty hallways, items going missing, and what felt like the presence of a child spirit who, although frightening when I was young, I later came to understand very differently.
Those early experiences didn’t push me away from spirituality, they pulled me towards it.
As I got older, I started learning more about energy work, protection, and witchcraft rooted in balance and respect. I realised that what many people see as “dark” isn’t negative at all, it’s often just misunderstood. That shift in perspective shaped everything for me.
Over time, that path naturally grew into Lilith’s Empowerment, a blend of spiritual guidance, protection work, teaching, and the handmade alternative gifts I now create and sell at local markets and events.
It’s funny looking back because none of this would have happened if we hadn’t moved to Wetherby all those years ago. In so many ways, this community is where my journey truly began."
My path started nearly 20 years ago, and what began as curiosity quickly became a lifelong calling. Over the years I’ve learnt that true magick isn’t just love and light — it’s balance.
I’m a grounded, protective, no-nonsense kind of witch.
Soft when needed… but fully capable of kicking ass when something needs shifting so the light can shine brighter 🔥
My work blends intuition, protection, and empowerment — helping people feel safe, strong and connected in their own energy.
Alongside my spiritual practice, I’ve also worked with dogs and small animals for over 10 years, offering care, calm and even Reiki. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and healing journey too 🐾
