Winter Vaccines 2025

The UKHSA have instructed GP practices to provide vaccinations this winter as follows:

From September 2025
- Flu vaccine for children aged 2-3 years, & pregnant women
From October 2025
- Flu vaccine for all other eligible patients
- Covid-19 vaccine to all eligible patients

UKHSA have advised a change to who is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccination.
You will now be offered this vaccination if you:
• are aged 75 or over
• live in a care home for older adults
• have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment and are aged 6 months to 74 years


You may have a weakened immune system if you:
• have or had blood cancer, such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma
• have had an organ transplant, bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant
• have HIV
• have a genetic disorder that affects your immune system, such as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID)
• are having or recently had chemotherapy, biological therapy or radiotherapy (in the last 6 months)
• are taking high dose or long term steroid medicine (depending on the dose)
• are having long-term immunosuppressive treatment for a condition such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), scleroderma or psoriasis

Next week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week – June 16th to June 24th, 2025 – which focuses on the importance of regular cervical screening for women's health.

Cervical screening (previously known as a smear test) is a free NHS health test offered to women and all people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64. This awareness week encourages women and people with a cervix to prioritise their cervical health and attend routine screenings as recommended by healthcare professionals.
