Tonight a new Monday evening rhythm begins.

Tonight we’re welcoming a new evening class with Jessica....one of our newly qualified Hatha Yoga teachers...designed especially for those who’d like yoga to become a regular part of their week, without effort, pressure, or the feeling that you need to be “good at it” first.

This isn’t about starting strong or pushing through with willpower.

It’s about choosing something that feels approachable enough to return to...week after week...because it fits, not because you forced it.

Jessica brings a calm, friendly presence to the room. Her teaching is clear, welcoming with a smile, and grounded, with absolutely no expectation to perform or keep up.

You’re invited to arrive as you are, move in a way that feels right for your body, and leave feeling glad you came.

Monday evenings can be surprisingly powerful when they’re gentle, a soft reset at the start of the week, rather than another thing to “do”.

For this class, we’re offering your first session as a gift ...not as a hook, but as a way to let you experience the space, the teaching, and the feeling of being here before deciding whether it’s something you’d like to continue.

A quiet beginning becomes a steady habit.

Sunday Mindful Flow 9.15am - with Maxine

Today’s practice was strong… but not rushed.

We moved slowly… with control… and at times, yes, it was tough.

Bodies ached… muscles spoke up… so we listened, adjusted, and stayed curious.
Not forcing… just nudging… and that’s where the growth happened.

In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than going slow…
In an age of distraction, nothing is so luxurious as paying attention…
In an age of constant movement, nothing is so urgent as sitting still…
— Pico Iyer

Strong doesn’t always mean fast…
Sometimes strength looks like staying present…
even when it would be easier to rush past the feeling 🤍

Candlelight Yin Yoga & Deep Rest Yoga Nidra

Friday Night Wellness · 6pm · 90 minutes
Friday 23rd January

Friday evenings in the studio are about creating a steady rhythm — a simple end-of-week pause you can return to.
Not every Friday looks the same, but the intention does: to support the body, settle the mind, and mark the transition into the weekend.

Our Candlelight Yin & Deep Rest session is a new 90-minute offering within this Friday Night Wellness collection.

In this longer session, we begin with gentle Yin yoga — long-held, supported, floor-based shapes that allow the body to release tension gradually and without effort. This prepares the system for rest rather than stimulation.

The final part of the evening is a full Yoga Nidra. You’ll lie down comfortably and be guided into deep rest. There’s no movement here — just stillness, warmth, and time for the nervous system to settle.

This class suits those looking for:
a calm close to the week
a consistent Friday evening anchor
something quietly nourishing rather than energising

It’s about creating a Friday ritual that feels rewarding enough to return to — no willpower required.

A few quiet hours. A gentle pause. An invitation to listen.

On Saturday 21st February, from 11am–3pm, we’re holding a half-day retreat that doesn’t promise transformation, breakthroughs, or a particular way you should feel.

Instead, it offers something softer.

This is time set aside to let the body speak first — to offer it permission rather than instruction, curiosity rather than correction.
A chance to notice how your mind and body already communicate, and to deepen that relationship in a way that feels grounded, personal, and real.

Throughout the afternoon, we’ll move slowly and intentionally through practices designed to support the nervous system and encourage ease — without force, performance, or expectation.

There will be:
Gentle vagus nerve practices, shared as tools to explore rather than techniques to “fix”, supporting relaxation and regulation in everyday life

Yin yoga, unhurried and spacious, inviting the deeper tissues to soften while attention settles inward

A hot stone restorative practice, where warmth and support allow the body to rest more fully

Periods of meditation, not to clear the mind, but to sit alongside whatever is present

A nourishing plant-based Buddha bowl lunch, simple, wholesome, and quietly satisfying, with a few thoughtful treats alongside

And a closing Yoga Nidra, offering profound rest and integration without effort

This retreat isn’t about changing who you are or leaving as a “new version” of yourself.

It’s about meeting yourself where you already are — and giving your system the conditions it needs to settle, recalibrate, and feel supported.

As always in our studio, there’s no pressure, no pushing, no selling of outcomes. Just space, warmth, and an honest approach to wellbeing that trusts your body’s innate intelligence.

A new Saturday morning rhythm begins.

From Saturday 17th January · 9.15am, we’re introducing Mindful Flow: Building the Strength Within You — the final new class of the year, and one designed to sit neatly into real life.

Early enough to feel purposeful.
Finished in time to carry on with your day.

This class is for those who enjoy slower, awareness-based yoga, but know they’re ready for more — more strength, more capability, more confidence in movement — without losing breath, control, or softness.

It’s not rushed.
It’s not high-impact.
And it’s not about chasing a feeling.

Instead, we work with steady, intentional sequences that build real strength through controlled movement, thoughtful transitions, and time to breathe.
Strength that supports you not just on the mat, but in how you move through daily life.

In this class, you can expect:
Whole-body strength work — upper body, core, glutes, and legs — built gradually and intelligently

Stronger postures and purposeful transitions that develop stability and confidence

A blend of power and endurance, balanced with joint awareness and breath

Options to scale up or ease back, depending on how your body feels that day

A grounding close with meditation and deep relaxation, allowing strength and calm to coexist

This is yoga for feeling capable as well as calm.

Strong and steady.
Supported in every movement you make.

As a Saturday habit, it works because it’s contained, repeatable, and rewarding — a consistent practice that builds over time, without needing willpower to sustain it.
A strong start to the weekend.

Well, I came across this quote from Mel Robbins this week and it really stuck with me:

“Becoming the best version of yourself means saying a lot of goodbyes.”

And honestly… that feels very true.

We’re often told that change means adding more…more effort, more willpower, more pushing.
But behavioural science actually shows that sustainable change usually starts the other way round.

It starts with removing what’s draining your system.

Less overload.
Less constant tension.
Less asking your body to cope when it’s already under pressure.

From a nervous-system point of view, practices like yoga don’t work because you “try harder”.
They work because they reduce background stress and create enough safety for your body to reset.

That’s why people often say they feel better without doing anything dramatic.
Nothing magical happened …the system just had a chance to come back into balance.

So for many people, starting yoga isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s simply deciding to stop doing everything the hard way.

Sometimes change doesn’t begin with a big leap forward…
it begins with a quiet goodbye.

If this makes sense to you, you may already understand what our studio is about

✨ Restorative Yoga & Gong Bath ✨

If your body is craving rest rather than effort, this is your invitation to slow right down.

Our Restorative Yoga & Gong Bath sessions are designed to help you soften, settle, and gently reset your nervous system.

We begin with long-held, fully supported restorative poses to release tension and encourage deep relaxation, followed by a gong bath, allowing the sound to do the rest.

There is also the option to join us for a Gong Bath only — a deeply immersive experience where you simply lie down, listen, and rest.
No pushing.
No fixing.
Just space to breathe, soften, and be supported.
✨ Deep rest
✨ Nervous system nourishment
✨ A calm, familiar space to fully let go

A little tumble ❄️

I had a small tumble while skiing.

Speed is the thing that scares me most on skis. When I start going faster than I’m comfortable with, my body reacts before my head has time to catch up.
When I did fall, it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. Cold, yes. A bit surprising. But nothing dramatic. And then I got back up.

What surprised me was what happened next.

I skied better.

Something settled. I trusted myself more. I trusted the skis under my feet. The fear that had been building lost some of its grip, because my body now knew the truth — I could handle it.

It reminded me how often fear lives in what we imagine, rather than in what actually happens.
A little discomfort can be part of growth.

Not because it’s easy or pleasant, but because it shows us what we’re capable of when we meet it and keep going.

Sometimes confidence doesn’t come from staying safe.

It comes from learning that we’re okay, even when things don’t go perfectly.

With love,
Maxine

✨ Extra Classes Added ✨

I’m so grateful that so many of you are choosing the studio as part of your regular yoga practice — thank you 💛

Because our Wednesday and Friday classes are often running with waiting lists, I’ve added extra sessions to give a little more space and flexibility.

🧘‍♀️ Wednesdays – NEW 11.00am class
This later-morning time can feel especially supportive:
a gentler start after the school run
time to arrive once the body feels warmer and more awake
ideal if early mornings feel rushed or energy is slower earlier on

🧘‍♀️ Fridays – NEW 10.45am class
A lovely additional option to move, breathe, and settle before the weekend begins.

If you prefer to stay with the earlier classes, please do book in early, as they do fill quickly.

Or have a chat with Michelle, who’s very happy to help book you in a month at a time.

Thank you for being part of this community and for trusting me with your practice — it truly means a lot ✨
Maxine 💛
