🌍💊 Antimicrobial Awareness Week – November 18–24 💊🌍
Every year, from 18–24 November, we join people all around the world to recognise Antimicrobial Awareness Week — a global campaign led by the World Health Organization (WHO).
This week is all about raising awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — that’s when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites change over time, making the medicines we rely on (like antibiotics) less effective. AMR is one of the biggest threats to global health, but together, we can help slow it down! 💙
🩺 Why it matters
Antimicrobial medicines, such as antibiotics, are vital for treating infections and keeping us healthy. But using them when they’re not needed, or not using them correctly, allows germs to adapt and become resistant. This means infections become harder to treat — and that’s something we can all help prevent.
🌟 What this week aims to do
Raise awareness: Help everyone — from patients to professionals — understand the impact of AMR.
Promote responsible use: Encourage using antibiotics only when necessary and always as prescribed.
Encourage best practices: Support safe, effective use of antibiotics in healthcare, farming, and everyday life.
Inspire global action: Bring communities together to protect these life-saving medicines for future generations.
💙 How you can get involved

Become an Antibiotic Guardian: Take a simple pledge on how you can help protect the power of antibiotics 👉 antibioticguardian.com
Spread the word: Share what you learn with friends, family, and colleagues — every conversation helps.
Educate young people: Try fun, educational resources like the e-Bug programme to teach children about microbes, hygiene, and resistance.
Go Blue for AMR: Wear something light blue 💙, update your social media profiles, or post about the campaign to show your support!
Together, we can keep antibiotics working for everyone — today, and for generations to come. 🌍✨
