What is Kinesiology Taping? 🤔

Following on from last week’s post about plantar fasciitis, I’d like to introduce you to something that can help - kinesiology taping! And it’s not just for plantar fasciitis - this technique can support a range of conditions.

Here’s why it’s amazing:
✅ Helps relieve muscle pain
✅ Reduces swelling & inflammation
✅ Supports posture & muscle function
✅ Speeds up recovery from injuries like sprains, and tendonitis

Unlike traditional tape, kinesiology tape moves with you, so you can stay active while healing. It’s comfy, waterproof, and supports muscles and joints without restricting movement. 👣 🏃‍♂️

Summer is ending, and the rainy days are rolling in! ☔

How can rainy weather affect your feet?
▪️ Constant moisture can lead to fungal infections like athlete’s foot.
▪️ Wet socks and shoes can cause blisters and skin irritation.
▪️ Damp environments are perfect for bacteria and unpleasant foot odour.
▪️ Cold rain can reduce circulation, leading to numbness and dry, cracked skin.

Tip tips for rainy day foot care:
✅ Wear waterproof shoes and change out of wet socks ASAP.
✅ Keep feet dry with moisture-wicking socks.
✅ Use anti-fungal powder or spray if you’re prone to infections.
✅ Moisturise daily to prevent dry, cracked skin.

Whether it's sunshine or rain, giving your feet the right care is always in season! ✨

Are you struggling with heel pain? 🤔

Heel pain in the morning is a major red flag for plantar fasciitis. This condition affects the plantar fascia, a crucial band of tissue that supports your foot's arch.

Common symptoms include:
✅ Sharp, stabbing pain in your heel when you first get out of bed
✅Pain that returns after sitting for a period
✅A burning sensation under the sole of your foot

People most at risk for developing plantar fasciitis include those between 40 and 60 years old, runners or athletes, individuals who are on their feet all day for work, and those who are overweight or have flat feet/high arches.

Although this can resolve on its own, it often needs treatment such as kinesiology taping, soft tissue massage and orthotics, all of which we can provide.

📆 August is Psoriasis Awareness Month!

Let’s talk about how psoriasis can affect your feet... 👣

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that most people associate with the elbows, knees, or scalp - but it can appear anywhere on the body, including the feet!

This type is called palmoplantar psoriasis, and it can lead to:
🔸 Painful cracks in the skin
🔸 Dry, thickened patches
🔸 Burning or itching
🔸 Difficulty walking or standing for long periods

👉 Did you know? Some people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis, which causes joint pain, stiffness, and swelling - especially in the toes and feet. If you're experiencing joint discomfort along with skin symptoms, it’s worth looking into.

What Is Reflexology? 🧘‍♀️ ✨

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the idea that certain areas of the feet relate to different parts of the body. By applying gentle, targeted pressure to these points, reflexology may help relieve tension and support the body’s natural relaxation response. 🦶

While reflexology is not a replacement for medical treatment, it can be used alongside conventional care to support overall wellbeing - particularly for those experiencing stress, fatigue, or general discomfort.

Your session will take place in a calm, private setting, designed to help you feel relaxed and supported throughout your treatment. 😌
