An average of 2,660 patients per day were in a hospital bed with flu last week – the highest ever for this time of year.

For older adults, getting flu can increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and pneumonia.

If you're eligible, it's vital that you get protected with the free NHS flu vaccine.

Flu cases are higher than they have ever been at this time of year.

An average of 2,660 patients per day were in a hospital bed with flu last week. That’s enough flu patients each day to fill more than 3 whole hospital trusts.

If you haven’t already, and you’re eligible, get your flu vaccine.

💙🦠 It’s Antimicrobial Awareness Week at the Village Medical Centre and across our PCN! 💙🦠

This week our team is raising awareness about the importance of using antibiotics responsibly to protect these life-saving medicines for the future.

Did you know? 💭

💊 Antibiotics don’t work for viruses such as colds, flu or COVID-19. Reducing unnecessary use helps slow resistance and keeps antibiotics effective when they’re truly needed.

💊Never save antibiotics for later use - they may not work properly and could make the problem worse
When prescribed antibiotics, take them exactly as directed by your GP, nurse or pharmacist!!

‼️In 2021 alone, AMR directly caused 1.14 million deaths worldwide. That's more than one million families losing someone they love. Even more concerning is what lies ahead - between 2025 and 2050, AMR could claim an additional 39 million lives globally. Without effective antibiotics, routine medical procedures like hip replacements, caesarean sections, dental work and chemotherapy could become extremely risky due to the threat of untreatable infections.

‼️PLEASE REMEMBER - Not everything requires antibiotics – Please only take them when advised to do so by a clinician & Join us in spreading awareness about this to stop antibiotics from becoming less effective!
