About Asquith Hall

Asquith Hall is not a mainstream residential nursing home. We provide specialist care for people living with dementia, mental health issues and complex needs that may challenge. We have an excellent reputation for providing high-quality support in a warm and inviting environment for people who require specialist care. This support is delivered by our dedicated, experienced multidisciplinary medical teams and a hands-on management team.

Local dementia and mental health specialist care

Asquith Hall is situated in the historic town of Todmorden which sits in the Upper Calder Valley in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Our purpose-built dementia specialist nursing home overlooks the beautiful Centre Vale Park. Asquith Hall was built as a direct response to the need for high-quality specialist dementia and mental health care in the local area. We support working-age and older adults to live fulfilling lives in comfort and safety.

We have excellent links with our community psychiatrist, the community mental health team, the Calderdale care home liaison team, the local GP service and allied community professionals.

We also have access to a host of professionals such as dieticians, community physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and fall prevention nurses.

Philosophy of care

Our philosophy of care is to provide a high quality service in a person-centred and holistic way. Everyone we care for is treated as an individual and is cared for with dignity, respect and empathy.

We place great emphasis on developing an individual’s skills rather than focusing on their diagnosis.

Home essentials

Our home is spread over two floors and has lift access. The ground floor has 25 single bedrooms and focuses on long-term care for people with dementia and complex mental health needs.

The first floor is specifically organised to focus on mental disorders and complex needs with behaviours that may challenge. There are 28 single bedrooms with individual en-suites bathroom or wet room.

Aims for dementia and mental health

Our aim is to have zero crisis admissions back to the hospital for mental health care which to-date has been achieved. We regularly monitor every stage of care to maintain the dignity of an individual in what can be a long, progressive condition.
