An excerpt from my new book 'Be Fantastic' (on release soon) which is pertinent to current events.
''It seems illogical that despite all our industrial, medical and technological advancement as a species, we are, in my opinion, spiritually stunted. It baffles me that with all our awareness, progression and supposed enlightenment, we are still at odds with each other over the same timeless issues. We are intolerant of each other’s views and beliefs, at war over religion and land as we have been since the recording of time, motivated by greed and perpetually chasing financial gain. Why have we shown so little progress in this direction? Why do we have so little understanding of our gifts and our strengths? How can we be so blinkered and narrow in our thinking? When will we accept that this is of our own making, learn from our mistakes and desist in letting history repeat itself?
I suppose it could be ancestral programming, tribal instincts of mistrust. Even today there are family feuds where relatives refuse to speak for years, disputes with neighbours over garden fences, derisive jokes and comments like the next village having 6 fingers and hints at interbreeding. Deep rooted distrust of the bordering counties, take Yorkshire and Lancashire, who both describe the other as "the dark side" harking back to the Wars of the Roses. An inherent dislike of surrounding countries and continents with or without any modern-day reasons. We appear to suffer from a lack of understanding which keeps us locked in these destructive cycles of discord.
Does it come down to the stories we have been told and the stories we tell ourselves? If so, it’s time to change the narrative.
We are intelligent beings; how do we open our eyes to the bigger picture? Raise ourselves like the eagle from our baser instincts and conditioning, to take in the bird’s eye view and open ourselves to greater understanding and unity.
How do we reconnect and work together? Is there a way of being that can resolve and mend our collective consciousness? Well, I believe there is.
International speaker and author Prem Rowat says ‘It’s not the world that needs peace; it is the people. When people in the world are at peace within, the world will be at peace.’
It all starts with us, within ourselves, our priorities and our needs being acknowledged, understood and met, fulfilling our purpose and taking responsibility for how we feel. Once we have calmed the inner turmoil, we stand a chance of improving the frequency we emit to others and the impact we have on the world. If we can operate from a place free from fear, we are less likely to overreact to supposed slights. These fear-based responses stem from our own shame, guilt and remorse which places us in a need to be right, no matter what the cost to ourselves and others.
Once we comprehend these motivating factors, we can take a kinder view of the intentions behind the actions and words of others and operate from a place of love.''
