On Monday, Music for All spent a wonderful afternoon at the House of Lords, hosted by The Lord Bichard KCB. The event marks a momentous start to our charityโs 30th birthday celebrations and highlighted our incredible achievements and impact so far.
The afternoonโs proceedings included a keynote speech from neuroscientist Dr Julia Jones outlining the proven science behind music's effect on our physical and mental well-being - we were also able to demonstrate and present the impact and return of our targeted investment thanks to extensive research carried out by volunteer consultant Matthew Kaley. Our Chair, Tony Followell thanked Music for All Ambassadors including Angellica Bell, Cathy Newman, Gareth Malone, Kenza Blanka and Orphy Robinson, who were able to join us for the afternoon. The charity is proud to be part of a powerful ecosystem of music organisations across the UK - many of these industry representatives packed out the Attlee Room, along with Lords and MPs plus key donors and supporters.
We were thrilled to invite some of our grant recipients to speak, including Nigel Clegg who illustrated the impact of a Power of Music Fund grant on Barley View care home residents. In addition we were joined by music lead Jane Hurst from Middleton Primary School along with pupils and teachers who delighted us with a musical performance.
We were delighted to see the room buzzing with conversation and a shared passion for the work we do. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us as well as our fantastic staff and trustees, helping us spread the message to more people about our incredible charity: making music really does change lives. ๐ถ
