Meet 87-year-old legend, John 💪🎾

John plays padel TWICE a week, tennis TWICE a week, and still makes time for the gym with regular strength training. All of this after bilateral knee replacements AND a total hip replacement.

He’s been a padel superstar for years — even playing out in Spain 🇪🇸 — and he’s still helping us improve, texting over tips and even bringing new balls to the court!

Right now, John’s managing a rotator cuff injury… but if you think that’s slowing him down, think again 👏

The Rochdale Captains Drive-In took place last night, and the conditions couldn’t have been better!

We’re lucky to have both our Lady Captain, Alison, and Captain Rhino coming to us in the studio for Golf Pilates — and it’s clearly paying off… both smashing drives beyond 160 yards 🤩💥

🌱 Thinking about jumping straight back into sport now spring is around the corner? Read this first…

After a winter of reduced activity, rest, or recovering from injury, it’s tempting to dive straight back into your usual routine. But your body may not be ready for the same intensity just yet.

1️⃣ Respect Your Load Tolerance
Your body adapts to the amount of load you regularly place on it. After a period of lower activity, your tissues may not tolerate the same intensity or volume as before. Gradually increase your training load to allow your body time to adapt.

2️⃣ Prioritise Injury Prevention
A sudden jump back into high-intensity sport is one of the biggest causes of injury in spring. Strength work, mobility exercises, and proper recovery can significantly reduce your risk and help your body handle increasing demands.

3️⃣ Don’t Skip the Warm-Up
Preparing your body before activity improves performance and reduces injury risk. Aim for 5–10 minutes of:
• Light cardio
• Dynamic mobility
• Sport-specific movements

4️⃣ Start Slow and Build Gradually
It’s tempting to jump straight back into your old routine, but consistency beats intensity early on. Begin with shorter, lower-intensity sessions and progress week by week.

We’re taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for Springhill Hospice 💚

On 2nd May, members of our clinic team will be tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks 12-Hour Challenge to raise money for Springhill Hospice here in Rochdale — and we’d love members of our community to join us.

The challenge involves hiking Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough — around 24 miles of walking and over 5,000ft of climbing — all within 12 hours.

We’re doing this to support the incredible work Springhill Hospice does for people and families in our local community. Their care and support make a huge difference during some of life’s most difficult moments.
