A Diploma in Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Body, Indian Head, Hot & Cold Stones, Advanced Deep tissue massage techniques and Sports massage. Deep tissue massage can be an effective treatment because it facilitates the movement of toxins from the muscles and helps stretch tight or twisted muscle mass, deep-tissue massage can help promote healing. Because massage also helps relax muscles, it can reduce the pain caused by injuries, too. Deep-tissue massage is frequently used to rehabilitate sports injuries. It is very good choice for runners as it targets tight spots and is beneficial for those after hard bouts of training or a few days after a race. Swedish Body Massage often utilizes long strokes it is also beneficial to athletes before a big competition or as a recovery tool as the lighter strokes help relieve stress and muscle tension without damaging muscles. It is also very beneficial for those wanting a pamper session, to relieve stress and relax. Receiving a hot and cold stone massage can be equally beneficial
In addition, massaging and alternating the hot and cool stones helps every cell in the body to receive more oxygen and nutrients and moves lymph thereby encouraging a more effective removal of toxins. The opening and closing of the blood vessels causes a pumping action within the circulatory system which brings in more blood to the lungs and heart. It’s pretty much a vascular gymnastics for the body. It allows the body to achieve the same level of relaxation and rejuvenation as going to a sauna and jumping in the plunge pool but with the benefit of a massage included. It is a very relaxing treatment. Indian Head massage is very beneficial for those with stress, anxiety, tension headaches, alopcia and sinus problems. It is also very good for tight neck and shoulder muscles. All massage is good for Improved circulation, improved lymphatic drainage, reduced muscle tension and stress.

Friday feedback- it’s great to hear clients telling me there aches & pains have gone after regular treatments !!

🙌 it usually means your body is responding well to the massage. There are a few physiological and biomechanical reasons why your back and hips might not be aching anymore after regular sports massage:

🧠 1. Reduced Muscle Tension

Sports massage helps release chronic muscle tightness and trigger points. Over time, this:
🙌Improves blood flow to muscles
🙌Flushes out metabolic waste (like lactic acid)
🙌Allows muscles to relax and return to their optimal resting length
Result: Less stiffness and soreness in your back and hips.

🩸 2. Improved Circulation & Recovery

Regular massage increases blood and lymphatic flow, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to tissues. This speeds up healing of small muscle strains and reduces inflammation both common causes of pain after physical activity.

⚙️ 3. Better Joint Mobility

Massage around the hips and lower back can release tension in surrounding muscles (like the glutes, hip flexors, and lower back extensors), allowing the joints to move more freely. Improved range of motion means less strain on muscles during daily movement or exercise.

🧍‍♂️ 4. Postural Rebalancing

Many back and hip aches come from postural imbalances (e.g., sitting long hours, uneven muscle use). Regular treatments help correct these by loosening overactive muscles and reactivating underused ones. Over time, your posture becomes more aligned, which prevents recurring pain.

🧘 5. Nervous System Adaptation

Massage also has a calming effect on the nervous system, lowering muscle tone and reducing pain sensitivity. With consistent sessions, your body becomes less reactive to stress or tension build-up.

💪 6. Complementary Effects

If you’ve been stretching, strengthening, or improving your movement patterns (even subconsciously), the massage might be reinforcing those positive changes.

In short:
Your massages have likely improved tissue health, mobility, and muscle balance — meaning your body no longer triggers pain signals in those areas.

Getting a pre-run (or pre-race) massage about 3 days before an event rather than right before is a smart strategy for several reasons.

🏃‍♂️ 1. Muscle recovery time

A massage, especially a deep tissue or sports massage, can temporarily cause soreness as it releases tight areas and flushes out metabolic waste.
🙌Doing it 3 days before gives your body time to recover from that minor soreness or fatigue.
🙌Your muscles then feel looser, more responsive, and ready for race day.

💧 2. Improved circulation and mobility

🙌Massage increases blood flow to the muscles, which:
🙌Enhances oxygen delivery and nutrient transport
🙌Helps clear out metabolic byproducts (like lactic acid)
🙌Improves flexibility and range of motion
🙌After a few days, these benefits peak, giving you optimal mobility when you toe the line.

😌 3. Nervous system balance

A massage helps relax your sympathetic nervous system (the “fight or flight” mode) and activate your parasympathetic system (the “rest and recover” ).
🙌Doing this too close to race day can make you feel too relaxed or sluggish.
🙌Three days out strikes the right balance — you feel calm, but still energized when it’s time to perform.

⏱️ 4. Prevents pre-race tightness

🙌If you’ve been tapering or traveling, your muscles might stiffen up.
A massage 3 days before helps:
🙌Release tension built up from training or sitting
🙌Prevent knots that could restrict your stride
🙌Keep your body aligned and balanced

🚫 5. Avoids race-day disruption

🙌A massage too close to the race (like the day before or the morning of) might:Cause mild soreness or swelling , Make your legs feel “heavy” or uncoordinated

Three days before allows everything to settle .
3 days before the race = enough recovery + enhanced mobility + balanced energy. if you need a treatment before an event why not book in 🙌

Are you struggling with foot pain , sore feet, arthritis, and after surgeries like toe fusion or injury…?

🙌What Localized Cryotherapy Is
Unlike whole-body cryotherapy, localized cryo targets a specific area (e.g., foot, ankle, toe) with a very cold stream of air, liquid nitrogen vapour, or other cooling method.
🙌 Sessions usually last a five -10 minutes, cooling tissue down rapidly to reduce pain and inflammation.
🙌 Great in combination with a short massage .

🔹 How It Works
🙌Vasoconstriction (blood vessel narrowing)
🙌The cold makes blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow to the injured or inflamed area.
🙌This can decrease swelling, fluid build-up, and local inflammation, Nerve activity modulation.
🙌Cooling slows down nerve signal conduction, which can blunt pain signals (“numbing effect”), This can gives pain relief for arthritis flare-ups or post-injury soreness.
🙌 After cooling, blood vessels dilate again, bringing fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients.
🙌 This can help tissue recovery and reduce stiffness. Allowing an Anti-inflammatory effect
🙌Cryo reduces inflammatory mediators (like cytokines), which may ease arthritis pain and stiffness.

🔹 Benefits
🙌 Arthritis in feet/toes → May reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling after activity.
🙌 Post toe-fusion surgery → helps with scar tissue sensitivity and local swelling (but usually only once fully healed, not in early post-op phase).
🙌 Injury pain/swelling → Helps reduce acute inflammation, especially if used soon after flare-ups or overuse.

There are many ways to self manage anxiety 👇

Did you know a sports / deep tissue massage is usually thought of as something purely physicalbreaking down knots, improving flexibility, and helping recovery but it can also have a strong effect on the mind, especially with anxiety. Here’s why:

1. Physiological Effects
🙌Activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Deep, sustained pressure and rhythmic strokes stimulate the vagus nerve and help shift the body out of “fight-or-flight” mode into “rest-and-digest.” This naturally lowers heart rate and blood pressure, calming anxious thoughts.
🙌 Reduces cortisol (stress hormone)
Studies show massage can lower cortisol levels, which are often elevated in people with anxiety. Lower cortisol means less tension and racing thoughts.
🙌 Increases serotonin & dopamine
These neurotransmitters are linked with feelings of well-being, stability, and relaxation.
🙌 Improves circulation & releases muscle tension
Anxiety often shows up as clenched jaws, tight shoulders, or a knotted stomach. Releasing that tension feeds back to the brain, signaling safety and ease.

2. Mind-Body Connection
🙌 Interrupts the anxiety cycle
When the body is relaxed, the mind has a harder time sustaining an anxious state. Massage creates a direct pathway to break the “tight body → worried thoughts → tighter body” loop.
🙌 Encourages mindful awareness
🙌 Focusing on the physical sensations of massage can ground you in the present moment, which is the same principle used in mindfulness meditation.

3. Psychological & Emotional Factors
🙌Safe touch
Supportive, professional touch can help reduce feelings of isolation and create a sense of being cared for powerful antidotes to anxiety.
🙌 Ritual of self-care
Taking time for yourself in a structured session reinforces the idea that your well-being matters, which can reduce stress.

✅ In short: A sports deep tissue massage doesn’t just loosen muscles it helps regulate the nervous system, lower stress hormones, and release physical tension that feeds anxiety. This creates a calm state where the mind can settle.
