tes the movement of toxins from the muscles and helps stretch tight or twisted muscle mass, deep-tissue massage can help promote healing. Because massage also helps relax muscles, it can reduce the pain caused by injuries, too. Deep-tissue massage is frequently used to rehabilitate sports injuries. It is very good choice for runners as it targets tight spots and is beneficial for those after hard bouts of training or a few days after a race. Swedish Body Massage often utilizes long strokes it is also beneficial to athletes before a big competition or as a recovery tool as the lighter strokes help relieve stress and muscle tension without damaging muscles. It is also very beneficial for those wanting a pamper session, to relieve stress and relax. Receiving a hot and cold stone massage can be equally beneficial
In addition, massaging and alternating the hot and cool stones helps every cell in the body to receive more oxygen and nutrients and moves lymph thereby encouraging a more effective removal of toxins. The opening and closing of the blood vessels causes a pumping action within the circulatory system which brings in more blood to the lungs and heart. It’s pretty much a vascular gymnastics for the body. It allows the body to achieve the same level of relaxation and rejuvenation as going to a sauna and jumping in the plunge pool but with the benefit of a massage included. It is a very relaxing treatment. Indian Head massage is very beneficial for those with stress, anxiety, tension headaches, alopcia and sinus problems. It is also very good for tight neck and shoulder muscles. All massage is good for Improved circulation, improved lymphatic drainage, reduced muscle tension and stress.

πŸ™Œ Thank you so much to Elaine for getting me through my marathon training block. Coming into it with injury and finishing with a time way faster that I could have wished for in my first marathon, recovery was just as important as training. Regular sports massages throughout helped me recover from injury and feel fresh and ready to go on race day. If you’re training for anything I highly recommend Elaine 🩷

πŸ™Œ Winning Wednesday
πŸ™Œ Well done Jodie
πŸ™Œ maintenance massage can be a simple but effective tool for ultra runners dealing with constant training stress.

πŸ™Œ Reduces muscle tightness: Long miles create tension and micro-damage; massage helps loosen tight areas before they turn into injuries.
πŸ™ŒImproves circulation: Better blood flow supports recovery and clears waste products that contribute to soreness.
πŸ™ŒAddresses β€œniggles” early: Small aches (like calf tightness or IT band irritation) can be managed before they escalate.
*πŸ™ŒMaintains mobility: Keeps muscles and fascia supple, helping you move efficiently over long distances.
πŸ™ŒPromotes relaxation: Lowers overall fatigue and helps the nervous system recover from heavy training loads.

πŸ™ŒWinning Wednesday
πŸ™Œ Oliver at Manchester marathon - smashing it in a fabulous time of 2:46 ! πŸ”₯
πŸ™Œ Why a Pre-Race Massage 3–4 Days Before Helps You Feel Race Ready
πŸ™Œ Timing matters. Having a sports massage 3–4 days before your event (whether it’s a marathon or HYROX) gives your body time to adapt and perform at its best.

Key benefits:

βœ”οΈ Reduces muscle tension
Loosens tight, overworked muscles from training without leaving them sore on race day.

βœ”οΈ Improves blood flow
Boosts circulation to help deliver oxygen and nutrients where you need them most.

βœ”οΈ Enhances recovery
Helps clear fatigue from heavy training so you feel fresher and lighter.

βœ”οΈ Restores movement
Improves mobility and muscle function for better efficiency when racing.

βœ”οΈ Builds confidence
You go into race day feeling prepared, relaxed, and ready to perform.

Why 3–4 days before?
It gives your body enough time to respond to the treatment so you get the benefits without any lingering soreness.
