🌿 Let’s Talk Sciatica — and How to Ease It 💫
Over the years, I’ve seen so many clients struggle with sciatica — and trust me, it can be incredibly uncomfortable.
It’s most common between ages 30–60 and makes up around 5% of all lower back pain cases… but those few cases tend to be the most severe.
So, what actually is sciatica? 🤔
It’s not a diagnosis, but a symptom — caused when the sciatic nerve (the largest nerve in your body!) gets irritated or compressed.
This nerve runs from your lower spine → through your buttocks → down the back of each leg.
When it’s unhappy, you might feel:
✨ Pain in your lower back, buttock, or leg
✨ Tingling or numbness down one side
✨ Weakness in the leg or foot
✨ Pain that worsens when sitting, coughing, or bending
💪 Try This: The Pelvic Tilt
A simple Pilates move that can really help ease sciatica discomfort — it strengthens your deep core muscles and gently mobilizes your lower spine.
How to do it:
1️⃣ Lie on your back with knees bent, feet hip-width apart.
2️⃣ Inhale to prepare.
3️⃣ Exhale and gently tilt your pelvis so your lower back presses into the mat.
4️⃣ Inhale to return to neutral.
🔁 Repeat 10–12 times.
✅ Avoid arching or forcing the movement.
