Mental Health Awareness Week starts next week.

So before the week begins, here’s a gentle check-in (no pressure to share more than you want to).
If you could describe your mental health right now in one word, what would it be?
And if you’re reading this and thinking “I don’t even know”… that’s an answer too. Sometimes the first sign we need support is feeling numb, flat, or constantly on edge.
This week I’ll be sharing a few calm, practical reflections around stress, anxiety, sleep and confidence — the kind of things that can quietly build up in the background.
If you’d like to find out more about how I work, you can visit my website or my page.

And if reaching out feels hard, you can contact me in whatever way feels easiest (call/text/email/message) — all details are on my page/website (google Crossfield Hypnotherapy).
Take care of you, gently.🌿

If you’ve ever seen a notification and felt that instant dread this is for you.
When stress and anxiety are running high, your brain can start treating small things like threats.

So even replying to a message can feel like pressure… and avoidance becomes the quickest way to cope.
Here’s a gentle 30-second reset you can try before you open your messages:
✅Put both feet on the floor
✅Let your shoulders drop
✅Breathe in through your nose for 3
✅Breathe out slowly for 6
✅Say to yourself: “One small step. I don’t have to do it all.”

If this is happening a lot, it can be a sign your baseline stress needs support not more willpower. Solution focused hypnotherapy is designed to help your nervous system reset.
Find out more on my website (Google Crossfield Hypnotherapy) or here on my page.

If you’d like to reach out, you can call, text, email or message — whichever feels most comfortable.
(All contact details are on my page/website.)

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that even replying to a message feels like too much?
A friend said to me recently: “I’m so overwhelmed I can’t even stand to use WhatsApp anymore.”

And honestly… I hear versions of this all the time.
When your mind is overloaded, small things don’t feel small.

A message can feel like pressure. A reply can feel like a demand.

So you avoid it for a bit (because you need relief)… and then the guilt and dread build.
If this is you, I just want you to know: you’re not rude, lazy, or failing.

It’s often a sign your stress levels have been running too high for too long and behaviours like this (avoiding messages, withdrawing, putting things off) are often a symptom of underlying stress and anxiety, not a personality flaw.
Find out more on my website (Google Crossfield Hypnotherapy) or here on my page.

If you’d like to reach out, you can call, text, email or message whichever feels most comfortable.
(All contact details are on my page/website.)

If this resonates, you can simply comment “me” (or a heart) you’re not alone.💟

Avoidance feels like relief… until it starts costing you freedom.
Phobias/Anxieties aren’t “silly” they’re often the brain’s alarm system getting a bit too good at its job.

Something gets labelled as “danger”, your body reacts (heart racing, shaky, nausea, panic), and then your brain learns: avoid it = feel safe.
The trouble is, avoidance can quietly start to shrink your world.
Some of the most common “everyday” phobias (and fear responses) I hear about aren’t always the ones people expect, like:
Motorways / slip roads / roundabouts
Bridges, tunnels, or being “stuck” in traffic
Flying (even thinking about booking it)
Lifts or enclosed spaces
Needles, blood tests, dentists
Vomiting (emetophobia)
Choking / swallowing
Spiders or dogs
Crowded places, queues, supermarkets
Driving in the dark / in the rain / on unfamiliar roads
If any of these made you think “that’s me”, please know: you’re not weak and you’re not broken. It’s a learned fear response — and it can change.🙌
I use solution-focused hypnotherapy to help calm the alarm system and build confidence step by step, so you can feel more in control again.

If you’re already thinking about Monday, you’re not alone....let’s soften it a little.
One of the things I love about solution-focused hypnotherapy is how gently it brings you back to the present, calming the mind and helping you move forward without having to pick everything apart.
So just for a moment…
Take one slow breath in…

Let your shoulders drop.

Breathe out and remind yourself: I’m safe in this moment.
A few questions for today (no perfect answers — just notice):
What am I quietly proud of this week?
What felt heavy — and what might I need? (rest, support, a boundary)
What can I put down before next week begins?
What would make next week feel 5% calmer?
A gentle intention (choose one):
One step at a time.
Small progress still counts.
I’m allowed to make space for myself.
If you’d like to learn more about solution-focused hypnotherapy and how I work, you’re very welcome to visit my website — or follow my page for regular reflections and calm, practical support.
Peace. Growth. Progress.

MEET JULIE - YOUR HYPNOTHERAPIST
Hello! I'm Julie, and I'm here to help you find calm, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.
With over 25 years of experience supporting adults and children in social care, I understand life's challenges. I trained as a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist because I've seen first-hand how powerful this gentle, future-focused approach can be.
Here's the science: Hypnotherapy works with your brain's natural ability to change. When we're relaxed, our brains produce more alpha waves, allowing the subconscious mind to be more receptive to positive suggestions. This helps rewire unhelpful thought patterns and creates new neural pathways - essentially teaching your brain healthier ways to respond to stress, anxiety, and challenges.
Hypnotherapy can help with a many different problems including; depression, anxiety, menopause/perimenopause, weight management, performance and confidence, phobias, pain, addiction, stop smoking/vaping, IBS. Contact me if you don't see your problem listed here as this is not an exhaustive list.
My approach is simple: no dwelling on the past, just practical, brain-based support to help you reclaim the life you deserve. Sessions are available both in-person and online, with flexible times to fit around your life.
You don't have to carry it alone. Let's work together towards your peace, growth, and progress.

Lately I’ve been getting a number of enquiries about travelling anxiety.
That “what if…” feeling before a trip can be exhausting:
⛔Racing thoughts
⛔Tight chest / nausea
⛔Fear of panicking on the motorway, train, or plane
⛔Worrying you’ll “ruin it” for everyone else

If this is you, you’re not weak and you’re not broken- your brain is trying (a bit too hard) to keep you safe.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer, more in control, and able to travel without dread running the show.
If you’d like support, you’re welcome to message me.

I currently have 2 in-person client spaces left (Wardle/Rochdale) and online sessions are available too.

When you spend so much of your time looking after everyone else, it can be easy to forget to check in with yourself.
So many people are used to being the one who keeps going.

The one who listens.

The one who supports.

The one who remembers what everyone else needs.
And often, they do it so automatically that they barely notice how tired, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained they have become themselves.
Taking a moment to think about your own wellbeing is not selfish.

It is important.
Sometimes, the people who give the most to others are the ones who need the gentlest reminder that they matter too.
A quiet pause.

A few moments to breathe.

A chance to notice how you are really feeling.
That can be the beginning of something important.
If life has felt full lately, perhaps this is your reminder to be a little kinder to yourself this evening.
And if you ever feel ready for support, you’re very welcome to message me. You can also Google Crossfield Hypnotherapy or visit my page for the website link to find out more.

Not every step is big, but every step counts.
Progress doesn’t always come in big, dramatic moments.
Sometimes it happens quietly.

One step. One decision. One slightly better day.

A little more calm. A little more confidence. A little more hope than you felt before.
Those small steps matter.
When life has felt heavy, it can be easy to think you should be further on by now. But real progress is often gradual. It builds gently, over time, and not always in ways that other people can see.
That doesn’t make it any less important.
I often remind clients that change does not have to be dramatic to be meaningful. A small shift in how you feel, think, or cope can be the beginning of something much bigger.
So if things have felt difficult lately, be gentle with yourself. You may be making more progress than you realise.
And if you feel ready for support, feel free to message me. You can also Google Crossfield Hypnotherapy or visit my page for the website link to find out more.

Spring mornings can feel lovely — unless you’ve been awake half the night with a mind that won’t switch off.
When sleep is poor, even the sound of birdsong or the early morning light coming through the curtains can feel too much when all you want is rest.
Sleep problems and overthinking at night are something so many people struggle with, especially when anxiety is high. You may go to bed feeling exhausted, only to find your mind replaying conversations, worrying about tomorrow, or making everything feel bigger in the quiet of the night.
If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone.
When the brain has been under stress, it can stay on high alert even when you desperately want to sleep. Understanding why your brain is reacting this way can be an important first step.
Sleep disturbance is something I hear about often, especially when anxiety has been high. As sessions progress, many clients notice they begin to feel calmer and sleep more easily.
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a gentle, forward-looking approach that may help you feel calmer, quieter in your mind, and better able to relax at bedtime.
If sleep problems or nighttime overthinking are affecting your wellbeing, feel free to message me. You can also Google Crossfield Hypnotherapy or visit my page for the website link to find out more.
