π‘οΈπ Hot Weather & Medication: What You Need to Know ππ‘οΈ
With temperatures rising above 25Β°C, itβs important to check how your medication is stored. Many medicines can become less effective or even harmful if they get too hot.
Hereβs what you need to do:
β
Check the label β Most medicines should be stored below 25Β°C
β
Avoid direct sunlight β Donβt leave medicines near windows, radiators, or in cars
β
Use the fridge if needed β In very hot weather, storing medication in the fridge (2β8Β°C) is sometimes safest β but donβt freeze them
β
Use cool bags β If youβre travelling, use an insulated pouch to protect your medicines
β
Look out for changes β If tablets are sticky, capsules are soft, or creams have separated, speak to your pharmacist
β οΈ Some medications, like insulin, inhalers, thyroxine, antibiotics, and hormone treatments, are especially sensitive to heat.
If youβre unsure, please ask your pharmacist or healthcare provider for advice.
Stay safe and well this summer! βοΈπ
